Jill Kelley, social liaison to MacDill Air Force Base, is mystery woman [interview w/Paula's dad]

Source: The New York Daily News

...But Broadwell’s father said Sunday his daughter is the victim of character assassination and implied the bombshell story is just a smoke screen for something bigger.

“This is about something else entirely, and the truth will come out,” Broadwell’s dad, Paul Krantz, told the Daily News outside his home in Bismarck, N.D.

“There is a lot more that is going to come out,” said Krantz, claiming he was not allowed to elaborate. “You wait and see. There’s a lot more here than meets the eye.” He said he supports his daughter “100%.”

"I stand by my daughter. She is an exceptional person,” Krantz told The News, adding that Broadwell, a West Point grad, and her family were “doing well, considering.”

1. Well, if it's actually "character assassination" on Paula then...

...that means Paula is not the one having the affair.

2. I think she was having the affair

I think someone else dredged up to try and make political capital on it.

People in charge stonewalled to avoid giving in to blackmailers.

Blackmailers retaliated with "FBI Whistleblower", who tried to get it into the general media,
and Cantor got appraised of the full situation and participated in the Squelch
until after the election.

And PTB deliberately released this story to kill any further blackmail potential.

I predict there will be serious consequences for whoever instigated this.

27. What if there was no affair?

What if Paula the bio author eventually publicly claims: there was no affair; he is using that lie to cover up a different reason he had to resign.
(Or something like that.)

Because she has said nothing yet, and it seems to me that the above is basically what her father is publicly claiming.

4. I suspect...

That the statement about "something bigger" is probably right. The affair bit smells like a red herring to send the media off on a spree while something ugly is going on behind closed doors. Patreaus was way too willing to call the resignation based on infidelity, since only Republicans were aware of this before anyone else allegedly was, like Sen. Feinstein, who should have been one of the first to know. Why was Cantor in on it before she was?

I still think that not only was Ohio supposed to be a steal, I think that Benghazi was a set up for Obama and Cabinet and Patreaus was an orchestrator or facilitator. The corporate news is all too happy to take on the affair and flaunt it so that a possibly large embarrassment to the president could take place under the radar. You have to recall that the general was driving the war machine in the Gulf and he was totally opposed to Obama's ideas of ending the charade there. Then he and Panetta suddenly traded places. I thought that was kind of odd. And don't forget, several of the jerks in one end of the Congress are the very same putzes who impeached Clinton not too terribly long ago because he wasn't a 1%er, even though he helped them get richer and more powerful... and he wasn't into starting a war in the middle east as Bush was so eager to do. Food for thought.

I'm sure it was something bigger and uglier than we are being led to think at this point. It's probably a very wise thing to have this guy removed via resignation and I don't think it was his idea to do that. Broadwell isn't talking until she gets briefed... and maybe the harassment victim knows more than just that she was getting nasty emails from a jealous paramour. Something is going on and we'll probably hear about it soon, secrets are like an awl in a cloth bag, they have a way of poking through the fabric and making themselves known.

5. Bob Baer said much the same thing -- I think on Russia Today?

I saw a clip somewhere. He said more or less that this wasn't really about the sex and that more would be coming out. He also stated that four or five other CIA directors have had affairs and it never was grounds for resignation. (Baer is the former CIA agent who was played by George Clooney in Syriana.)

Where's my popcorn?

12. I think he's the one who was interviewed a couple of days ago...it was in the videos section here...

There were several other individuals interviewed along with him.

They were all dismissing what he said, but he stood by his assessment that the affair wasn't the real issue. Looks like he knew what he was talking about.

10. Well said & welcome to DU

I share many of your suspicions about the "real" story still not fully known, another shoe's
a gonna fa-a-all. Betrayus is a real piece of work, a Bush Crime Syndicate loyalist, who is
capable of doing most anything imaginable, and some things we can't even imagine; to
further the agenda of his Masters.

I've detested the man, ever since this caught my attention, back in 2005. Col. Ted Westhusing
was a universally respected and honorable man, just attempting to do his job, but was stymied
and ultimately "suicided" for his trouble. Patraeus was his immediate superior.

“When he was in Iraq, Westhusing worked for one of the most famous generals in the U.S. military, David Petraeus,” Bryce observed. “As the head of counterterrorism and special operations under Petraeus, Westhusing oversaw the single most important task facing the U.S. military in Iraq then and now: training the Iraqi security forces.”

Bryce referred to a “two-inch stack of documents, obtained over the past 15 months under the Freedom of Information Act, that provides many details of Westhusing’s suicide…. The documents echo the story told by Westhusing’s friends. ‘Something he saw drove him to this,’ one Army officer who was close to Westhusing said in an interview. ‘The sum of what he saw going on drove him’ to take his own life. ‘It’s because he believed in duty, honor, country that he’s dead.’ ”

I hope betrayus is hoisted up on his own petard instead of being allowed to merely slink away an adulterer and land a cushy consulting gig on M$M

14. Maybe Patreaus was just bait.

". . . You have to recall that the general was driving the war machine in the Gulf and he was totally opposed to Obama's ideas of ending the charade there. Then he and Panetta suddenly traded places. I thought that was kind of odd. . . ."

Maybe the general was just bait. Leaks have been a boil on the CIA for some time now. Maybe this was a way of finding out who was leaking to whom. And the GOP were all too eager to have the general confirmed in the position of CIA Director. They, no doubt, thought they had it in the bag on Benghazi.

I've said for some time now, people don't give this President enough credit; he is a very smart individual . . . no, brilliant!

31. After reviewing

the most recent details coming to light as of Tuesday am, I think Panetta was in the CIA seat to find out all he could and when it led to Pentraeus, he switched to the DoD, he was able to help catch the assholes red handed and they are now in the process of cleaning house, especially since the Ds won the election, we might now be on our way to cleaning up the act of the US on the planetary front. Notice that Panetta is okay with reassignment now... The snake is eating its tail at this point and the real evildoers look like they're on their way out with the proverbial army boot up their asses. Just spekulatin' here...

Are you suggesting that Patraeus set up the entire Benghazi affair to try and take down Obama?

CooCoo, CooCoo....

I love how willing people are to suddendy totally discount the fact that Patraeus essentially rescued the situation in Iraq and was hand picked by Obama for the CIA, not to mention respected on all sides.

But oh yeah, MoveOn DID run that betrayus add, I think I'll just stick with that.

Broadwell's dad probably doesn't know what he's talking about.

23. I think your post is right on....

I posted it over at America Speaks just to see if they think the same as I. In summary. Petraeus was and is a neocon, just like the rest of Cheney and crew. I never cared for the man or his efforts. After Benghazi he was enlisted by the Republican mafia to go after Obama and make it seem like Benghazi was all Obama's fault. Someone got wise to what he was doing and arranged for him to have an affair. (But not really--every Harvard and West Pointer has affairs and then blabs about them in emails). This was just device that let Petraeus escape, which I doubt will end up working. Basically, this was all a prearranged October event that failed to work and push Ohio to Romney. We're still trying to id the discoverer but that may never be known.

Thanks for your post. It allowed a lot of us to sift through this thing better. We are behind Obama and are glad he didn't get destroyed by this obvious plot. The contingency setup began with the CIA DOD switch for Betrayus.

Sorry for any spelling errors.

9. The plot thickens ... involvement from Petraeus' time at Central Command.

Caught the beginning of the local Fox news (after Simpsons, etc.,) ... and this involves an "unpaid social liaison" for MacDill AFB from Petraeus' time at Central Command in Tampa Bay. They had a shot of her mansion on Bayshore Blvd. which is the bay front street of the rich and elite (bankers, RV dealership owners, etc.) in Tampa. They probably featured many shots of the area extensively on TV during the RNC.

http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/20068514/harassing-e-mails-in-petreaus-case-sent-to-tampa-woman

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

In October 2008 the longtime Army Veteran was named commander of US Central Command, headquarters - MacDill Air Force Base.

Petraeus' next big role was director of the Central Intelligence Agency. On Friday he resigned that post after admitting he cheated on his wife, with biographer Paula Broadwell.

It came to light after the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a probe on harassing e-mails Broadwell allegedly sent to Jill Kelley.

The 37-year-old Tampa resident is an unpaid social liaison for MacDill AFB.

No one answered the door at the Kelley's Bayshore Boulevard residence on Sunday but neighbors had nothing but good things to say about her and her husband Scott.

"They're great friends and they're great neighbors," explained Jim Walters. "And I shocked by the news."

A source close to Petraeus told the Associated Press that Kelley is a good friend but that the two were not romantically involved.

Kelley released a statement Sunday through a communications and crisis management firm.

In that statement she says her family "has been friends with General Petraeus and his family for over five years."

26. Okay, so maybe digest

these... I included the WaPo link from the middle of the Beast story. Try and connect the dots here... (and browse around the page at the Beast.)

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/11/11/alleged-petraeus-mistress-suggested-she-was-privy-to-state-secrets.html

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/federal_government/official-emails-from-paramour-led-to-fbi-probe-that-prompted-petraeuss-ouster-as-cia-chief/2012/11/10/987726e4-2b94-11e2-aaa5-ac786110c486_story.html?tid=pm_pop

In my opinion, this is starting to smell like a whole trawler full of rotten fish and I'll bet the oil slick leads back to the Cheney/Rove machine... these pigs will stop at nothing to topple the best president this country has had this century and secure a full on feudalistic environment for the Romney fans complete with endless war to satisfy their appetite for global dominance, ie. "American exceptionalism". That's my take and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone, I've been a lurker for a while but I just had to start speaking up...

28. reading your links, this explanation from wapo report rings true and no need 4 conspiracy beyond....

"When Petraeus’s name surfaced, officials said, they did not think it was appropriate to brief anyone outside the Justice Department, including the White House or Congress. The criminal probe was still ongoing, key interviews had not been conducted, and they did not know what role, if any, Petraeus had in the e-mail harassment case, they said.

Before determining whether there had been a security breach, one official said, it would have been premature to discuss such a sensitive issue with anyone outside the investigation. In late summer, after ruling out any security involvement, high-level Justice Department officials were informed about the harassment investigation regarding Petraeus."

11. So, Why Did Petraeus Break Off The Relationship 4 Months Ago?

Did Petraeus have contact with anybody in the FBI? That would have been inappropriate but it almost seems likely given that it was about 3 months after Jill Kelley alerted the Washington Congressman. Was there some kind of deal made at that time, to cut off the relationship in exchange for being allowed to stay on as Director of CIA? Indeed, who knew what and when is a very good line of questioning. So who made the story public. It seems like Kelley was quite discreet meaning it wasn't her -- unless she was unhappy with the outcome then took it public. What is the protocol for information like this and was it followed. Who is responsible for letting members of Congress with a need to know, know and why didn't it happen as it should. There are more shoes to drop before this is over. When was Obama's National Security Advisor notified and how soon after that was the President himself notified. From what I have heard Obama first learned of this on election night (talk about throwing cold water on a victory celebration). This will be a big story for several weeks.
