Obama hails veterans, pledges continued support

Source: Reuters

President Barack Obama laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to mark the Veterans Day holiday on Sunday, declaring that soldiers' needs would be met even as the country winds down wars in the Middle East and Asia.

In the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, Obama pledged continuing support for veterans as they make the transition to civilian life.

"This is the first Veterans Day in a decade in which there are no American troops fighting and dying in Iraq," the president said at the cemetery across the Potomac River from Washington, where soldiers' graves are marked with row upon row of simple white stones.

"After a decade of war, our heroes are coming home," he said. "Over the next few years more than a million service members will transition back to civilian life."

The amazing thing is that the mainstream media portrays Republicans as pro-military when they really are just pro-weapon maker. When it comes to military pay and benefits, they could care less, and would happily cut these in order to pay for tax cuts to billionaires.

My wife is on the ground in an un-named place. Most are happy with the election. Blocking the VJA and COLA for disabled vets was too much besides Willard dodging the draft

I just finished watching the greatest show that hails us Veterans." Victory At Sea" and I always get the chills when I see the combat footage filmed by some brave photographers.

Thanks from this Navy Veteran who was stationed on the USS Constellation CVA-64 from 1966-1968 and all of the sailors and military both men and women who have served this great country.

From this Vet to you all I salute you.

Have a great Veterans day where ever you are and be safe.

have to suffer making decisions about where their payments have to go.. especially in cities where the expenses are higher. Someone needs to re submit that bill..especially for those 100% disabled.
