a 6 year term would put him at 78 in 2020. Putting a young Ashley Judd up against this geezer might be just the thing Kentucky needs to do to retire him.

No one here in most of Kentucky will vote for anyone that doesn't dry hump a piece of coal at every campaign rally.

I think she should start with a Congressional race if she is really serious about getting into DC politics. She needs more than two years to map out a strategy for winning a Senate race in Kentucky.

To me she seems like a very good actress (unless she just had a lot good directors) and would probably be able to ace the public appearance part if she is brave enough to try, but does she have the brains not to make too many gaffs?

Most of the trolls seem to be in mourning and hoped some would know or have found out something. A thread or trash (however you look at it) at Freeperville seem to have even more support for her than Mitch. I read up a little and her bio and seems to suggest she lots of beliefs. Looks like she is a big thinker to me and hope she does put her hat in the ring.

Seriously. These emotional cripples who are starting wars around the world, cutting funding for the needy, are doing so out of their emotional problems. We can't afford it. We can do better. But it's going to take musicians, actors, and bright TOGETHER people.

It takes time to get organized and known. She said in blah statement, lets focus on coming together, doesn't she even know that McCONNELL is the personification of obstructionism. Look for a serious candidate, who LIVES in Kentucky.

and she's probably exploring the interest in running. That's how it's usually done. A statement is floated, people are spoken to, the pulse of the public is taken and then an announcement is made. I agree they need to get someone going soon but we've got a wee bit of time yet.

Ashley may not live in KY right now, but Ashley is an Ashland, KY native. She is die-hard Kentucky all the way. She is a graduate of University of Kentucky and avid fan of our NCAA champion Kentucky Wildcats, and attends games very very often. Make no mistake, Kentucky loves Ashley Judd. If I'm not mistaken, I believe she is a Yale graduate as well. And she has a backbone; is unafraid to go up against the mighty coal barons. Hey, if democracy beat big dark money on Tuesday, Nov 6, 2012, then I think there's a chance she could beat big dark coal? No? Yes!

There's another famous Kentucky native from the Maysville, KY area who could give ole Rand Paul a go too (or Mitch McConnell), and that's George Clooney. No, he doesn't live here, but he is a native. There's you some name recognition, especially since his big sister was Rosemary . We also have Johnny Depp who is a native of Louisville, KY

I have pined away for years over the right-wing strong-hold in this "Poor" state. There was even an article on the front page of the Lexington Herald Leader a few weeks ago before the election which more or less bragged about the fact that poor people in this mostly rural state will vote Republican every time.

There's much talk about spineless democrats in this country..... the ones in this state have absolutely no back bone at all. They will not organize and fight back. They have no guts, and no spine to "stand up and fight for what they believe in!" (as Devall Patrick said at the Convention.)

Since the election on Tuesday, and after seeing that neat little chart of how the most educated and least educated states voted here on DU (thank you to whoever posted that), I have been racking my brain on how we can get our poor closed minded folks educated. And then these reports started appearing about Ashley Judd.

For lack of a better term, I will call our (Kentuckian) rural republican-voting folks the "Honey Boo-boos". Ashley Judd and George Clooney definitely have name recognition, even in Honey-Boo-Boo-land. Ashley and George are giants in the area of social justice. Now don't get me wrong as I discuss our Honey-Boo-Boos. I have nothing against our people. They have been held down and back. It is impossible to understand how we can send men to the moon and Curiosity to Mars but can't educate ALL of our people. Well, we can. And we must. Using any
tactic that we can, coming up with ideas and putting them to work. OFA did it for POB, yes?

Yeah I think you're right, but I have also seen it written that he was from Louisville.
As a matter of fact, Owensboro came to mind first, but then I remembered seeing in print the Louisville reference, so I went with the printed ref. One thing about DU is that if you're wrong about something, someone will correct you real quick. And that is a good thing. Facts ARE important.
