Numbers show West defeat, but he's not conceding

Source: Orlando Sentinel

The numbers show a small margin, but a clear defeat for U.S. Rep. Allen West, the tea party Republican seeking a second term in Congress. Early Wednesday afternoon, West filed a lawsuit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court seeking a recount. West also wants a recount and Republicans pointed out there are some uncounted absentee ballots in Palm Beach County.

Still, Palm Beach County Republican Chairman Sid Dinerstein said, " Iím not really optimistic."

As of midday Wednesday, the unofficial results show Democratic Patrick Murphy with 160,328 votes, or 50.39 percent in the northern Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie county district. The exact percentage is significant, because the gap isn't small enough to trigger an automatic recount. Florida law requires a recount when the results are closer than 0.5 percent. The West-Murphy gap is 0.78 percent.

Still, West isn't conceding.

His campaign manager Tim Edson issued this statement late Wednesday morning:

"Ensuring a fair and accurate counting of all ballots is of the utmost importance. This race is far from decided and there is no rush to declare an outcome. Ensuring a fair and accurate counting of all ballots is of the utmost importance. There are still tens of thousands of absentee ballots to be counted in Palm Beach County and potential provisional ballots across the district."

4. Not conceding? I'm shocked.

Maybe he thinks that as long as he doesn't concede, he can't lose.

8. LOL

When he's holding a gun to a tied-up beaten down man with a bunch of his allies next to him, he's a TOUGH GUY.

When he's losing because the voters realize that he has latent insanity, it's WAAHH WAAHH WAAHH.

repigs are the scourge of America.

11. That point cannot be stressed enough.

We are well rid of him, but he truly belongs in prison, not Congress.

and hang on as long as possible.
I bet 50 bucks Congressman Murphy wont be seated with the others.
And this from the party that hates lawsuits...unless they are affected anyway.
Hypocrite.

13. If it's that close then he should wait for the votes to be counted before he concedes.

And that's coming from someone with a very strong dislike of West and everything he stands for. I don't understand how they can call a winner if there are still votes uncounted unless it's a landslide.

Also, while West is about the worst you can possibly have, don't be too disappointed if Patrick Murphy turns out to be a DINO. He switched his party affiliation from republican to democrat. But even if he does turn out to be a republican masquerading as a democrat, I guess at least he's not a Tea Partier, or in West's case, the King of the Tea Partiers.
