US Election: Congressman Jim Moran's son caught on video discussing voter fraud

Pat Moran, who served as field director to re-elect his father, a northern Virginian Democrat, said he was forced to step down in order to avoid a distraction during this year's critical election.

The video, which was released by a conservative activist on Wednesday, showed the younger Mr Moran discussing how to fraudulently create documents in order to vote on behalf of 100 Virginians.

At one stage, Mr Moran mentions using bank statements and utility bills to use as voter identification, saying: "They can fake a utility bill with ease, you know?"

Mr Moran was approached by the undercover political activist in Arlington, Virginia, on October 8. The man revealed he hoped to illegally assume the identity of unsuspecting registered voters and wanted Mr Moran's help. While initially appearing to disapprove, Mr Moran later said that he should "look into it."

2. Curious that the Telegraph doesn't name this "conservative activist"

Funny how that works.

4. Up to their old tricks.

As one trick-ponies tend to. Nevertheless, need to get the word out.

5. I have some commentary on the video here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021624807

Mr Moran has since denied that he had ever endorsed any sort of illegal or unethical behaviour and that he had only humoured the activist because he appeared "unstable and joking."

That was my take after watching the video, and attempt at splice and dice by O'Keefe.

7. I figured it won't stand up to examination, but

he is right to bail out, the election is too near.

Nevertheless, people need to know this sort of ruse is still being used.

6. Pay the Piper

There is no room to for this kind of action.
Even the fact that he only said tht would look into it
stepping down makes sense. You can not
trust those who give the idea that they
might be willing to break the law in elections.

are these guys 90% "Republicans"? The folks going after voter ID, why aren't they going after these other guys who WILL throw an election? I know better than and so do most folks. Why do they think rigging the election is such a good idea. They say they disagree with Obama on policy- he and Romney stand the same on healthcare, foreign policy, the military has never had a larger budget in our history, we are poised to becoming the largest oil producing nation in the world, and the Bush ban on 30 round clips died during the Presidents term. AND there been no new arms restrictions. Well the stupid Bush arms program of "Fast and Furious" was shut down by the Obama justice department and the investigations started by Teabillies were allowed to die. Why do you think the Teabillies let it die? Because punishing Holder for hiding evidence of Bush bumbling was a hot potato in Romney's election plans, that's why. Otherwise they'd be making political hay from it from here to Nov 6. But the best they can do is Trump waving $5M of Monopoly money around. Its the ethical equivalent of holding a gun to a baby's head unless you lease from Trump on his terms. And we won't mention the fact that neither Trump or Mittski are transparent on any form. As if we don't know who Barack Obama is and was. How invisible and opaque is someone who edits Harvard's Law Review? If Romney's abuse of tax law is legal, more so would be an alleged Obama claim of advantage in admission to Harvard, it was definitely law of the land and not a finagling of tax rules written largely by tax lawyers' lobbies. And it shows a success that the plan was meant to promote. I mean, editor of the Harvard law review. Oh yeah, and that President gig.

I can't wait till this election is over. Obama 60/40 over Romney.

I got to about the 12 min mark before i gave up. Why are the only ones committing voter fraud/election fraud are republicans engaging in it or fabricating it.

Brace yourself, idiots post here. Lots of praying going on, but I pray they get a clue.

13. All he had to do was say "NO" and walk away -

- but he didn't do that. He engaged in conversation and ended up involving himself in a huge mess. Don't care if he was baited, if you're not smart enough to know bait when you see it, then you get caught.

Happens to fish all the time.

15. This Is The Problem With Trying To Please

You end up changing your story which then just entraps you. A boat load of James O'Keefe types are running around just looking to entrap people into saying what they think you want to hear rather than sticking to your natural instincts on such matters, making it a lose-lose proposition.

No, just a sleazy cheap set up. In legalese it's called entrapment.

Last edited Thu Oct 25, 2012, 08:06 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

he was explaining how others fraudulently vote .. the mere discussion of how people fraudulently vote is not necessarily ''instructing'' others how to do it. (?)
