Obama lead in Virginia up to 5 points

Source: Public Policy Polling

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Virginia, conducted on behalf of Health Care for America Now, finds Barack Obama expanding his lead in the aftermath of his debate victory Monday night. He now has 51% to 46% for Mitt Romney, up from a 49/47 advantage last weekend.

Obama’s seen a 7 point net improvement in his favorability rating among Virginia voters from a -3 spread last week (48/51) to now +4 at 51/47. Romney’s numbers have headed in the other direction. He’s dropped 7 points from a +2 spread on our last poll (49/47) to now -5 at 46/51.

24. Absolutely!

We have a goal to make 100,000 calls between now and election day. Some days, our Catonsville office manages 1,000+ calls in a day. We are fired up!

12. the silver lining in our being such a military-dominated state

is that Romney's scary absolute unfitness as CiC, as demonstrated in the final debate, probably hurt him here more than anywhere else

13. Hmmm...do we have a better poll out there?

Looks like they over sampled Democrats and Women. And didn't ask if they were going to vote or even if they were registered to vote.

14. If those numbers hold, Macaca doesn't have a chance, either

I knew Virginia wouldn't fall for Willard's B.S.

26. There is an active campaign by a good candidate, Wayne Powell

I haven't seen any polling and will be thrilled if Powell gets 40%. Cantor's district is full of stupidi-TEA and rich people.

OTOH, Wayne has yard signs out and is a lot more visible than anyone who has ever run against EC.

20. Really?

While that is really good news, if true, I'm afraid that we might be choosing to see things with "rose colored glasses" sometimes, and that isn't helpful. I live in Virginia and the polls we are seeing in our daily papers say the state is going to Romney by about 2 percentage points. Virginia is still very much on the edge. I'm not saying this to be all doom and gloom, but there is a LOT of work to be done in Virginia and it shouldn't be written off as a "win". I don't think it's a done deal and treating it that way could be devastating during the election.

Okay...hate me now.

I don't think this is an accurate poll. Virginia is at best a toss up at this point

This may be another good polling day. I agree that this state is still 50/50.

27. As with polls that look bad for us, I take it with a grain of salt

The good news is that we have at least a 50-50 chance of going blue again.

The mittwit will have to continue to spend time and money here.
