Poll: Obama Leads By 5 In Ohio

Source: TPM

President Barack Obama holds a 5-point lead in Ohio, according to a poll released Monday.

In the latest poll released jointly by Quinnipiac University and the CBS News, Obama leads Mitt Romney among likely Buckeye State voters 50 percent to 45 percent. While the lead is outside the poll's margin of error, it represents a dip from the previous Quinnipiac/CBS survey in September that showed Obama up by 10 in Ohio

Monday's poll shows Obama leading big among early voters in Ohio, 54 percent to 39 percent, while also holding a smaller 2-point edge among those who intend to cast their ballots on Election Day.

4. That's more like it!

I was worried about all the super tight polls in Ohio. +5 in Ohio is a very strong poll this close to election day and Quinnipiac is very credible.

7. Actually

I hate to say this but I was looking at their Ohio polls for 2008, and they overestimated the Obama lead in each one. Their last poll had Obama up by 7, when he only won by 4.6. They also had him up as high as +14 in October.

He's probably really up by 2 or 3 in Ohio.

13. Right

Early voting implies big time Democratic enthusiasm despite the polls saying otherwise.

16. I was too. But lamestream media wants to keep it a horserace.

I tend to believe the analysis from people here then from someone like WSJ or some other organization. But as I think about it, Cluster Faux has even stated Mr. O was up a few in their own poll. Than was a month ago. And it was posted here.

But I am concerned about Florida. Governor is trying to steal it there.

8. And yet the NYTimes said that the poll had narrowed...

"
Ohio Race Tightens in New Poll

By MARJORIE CONNELLY

The contest in Ohio between President Obama and Mitt Romney has tightened, according to a Quinnipiac University/CBS News poll.

Mr. Obama has a 5-point advantage over his opponent among likely voters, with 50 percent to 45 percent for Mr. Romney. Last month, in the Quinnipiac University/New York Times/CBS News poll of Ohio, Mr. Obama led by 10 points.

In the current survey, only 3 percent remain undecided and 95 percent of those with a preference said their mind was made up. Of those who had already voted, 54 percent said they cast their ballot for Mr. Obama and 39 percent said they voted for Mr. Romney.

I'm so confused by the polls now. They're all over the place - or haven't changed substantively in the least - but these news organizations keep beating the same drum.

If the polls are really narrowing, as they say, is it a factor of more money by the rethugs being poured into the races? I would have to believe that they won't stop spending until they've virtually bought this thing.

14. The last poll

was prior to the 1st debate. Every poll has shown a drop since then. Obama is unlikely to drop further unless something unprecedented happens or he has another horrible debate performance tonight (unlikely).

11. That's promising, but personally I'd like to see 77% Obama to 23% rMoney

and in every state.

There's no reason why Democrats, if they just vote, can't sweep just about every state's elections.

Keep the pressure on. Less than three weeks to go. GOTV.

19. The only issue that can affect the trajectory of this race is the November 2nd unemployment report.

If it drops or is unchanged, Mitt is finished for good. My sense from observing mundane factors is that the report will show a decline in jobless, maybe a big decline.
