Republican Party gives Romney financial advantage over Obama
Source: Reuters = By Alina Selyukh and Patrick Temple-West
Mitt Romney held a financial advantage over President Barack Obama heading into October thanks to strong fundraising by the Republican Party that will allow its candidate to spend more on the last stretch toward the November 6 election. Campaign finance disclosures show the Romney campaign, the Republican National Committee and the fund they use jointly had $183.1 million in cash on hand at the end of September, more than Obama and the Democratic Party, who had $149.1 million. Obama's campaign on its own has dwarfed Romney's in the money stakes in recent months, raising $136.2 million in September, according to a Reuters tally of latest reports. The Romney campaign alone raised much less: $76.1 million, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission. But when taken together with the RNC, Romney had more to spend .... 1. There is an old principle in marketing
|
Basically, it costs x number of dollars to buy a consumer.
If you extrapolate this to political advertising, it basically tells you that at some level there is a dollar figure per vote. While you can argue that people are just responding to their beliefs, the math is so basic to advertising that it essentially amounts to buying votes. Romney is trying to buy this election. L- |

5. Yes,

but it costs far far more to sell a substandard product than a quality product. So Obama still has advantage.

6. that is my consolation

I only offered this up to explain why Romnesia is apparently catching up in the polls.
Obama is, by many criteria, the much better product than Romesia and his allies in Congress. L- |

8. Sort of like the vacuum cleaner salesman who goes door to door offering a demo

Most homeowners say "Yes, come on in" for the sole purpose of getting the carpet cleaned by a nice young man. Ever so often one of them succumbs to the pitch. So basically, what I'm getting at here is:
The more Romney sucks and sucks and sucks, the likelier he is to get just one more vote |

2. 183 to 149 doesn't sound so bad

But we still need to take the $$$ out of our electoral process.

4. Fine with me him throwing away good money after bad
|
He's going to lose because he's a rotten candidate and would make an even worse president. At this late stage in the campaign I can't see how a flurry of ads by him, however vile, will help him win. He still is what he is.

10. 10 Gazzillionaires up to $40 million a piece v. 5 million $10 donors
|
Not exaclty a fair fight, but the Repukes sure do squander their money (and line their own pockets with their suckers' donations) so their money does not go as far as Dems'.

Health is better then money any time. If you get Cancer or any other disease you cannot get rid of this disease or any other major illness. The GOP just wants the rich to get all of the phony breaks. However, we the people will determine who gets elected and I am not voting for any intolerant Party or Politician that thinks otherwise. |
