The Obama administration is denying a report that the United States and Iran have agreed to one-on-one talks that could be a last-chance opportunity to avoid war over Iran's nuclear program. Citing senior administration officials, The New York Times reported Sunday that Iranian officials have agreed to negotiations, but not until after the presidential election, so that they know whether they're negotiating with President Obama or Mitt Romney. National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said Saturday that President Barack Obama has made clear that he will prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and will do whatever's necessary to prevent that from happening. Vietor said Iran must come in line with its obligations, or else faced increased pressure. -snip- Full AP article here: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_US_IRAN?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-10-20-20-39-36 Article also here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20121020/us-us-iran/ CNN 07:46 PM ET White House denies nuclear report The White House denied a report Saturday that said the United States and Iran have agreed to one-on-one talks over Iran’s nuclear program. 9. I find it unlikely that there would have been one on one talks.
|
Most likely any talks will take place with a third party given we do not have official relations with Iran.
