Obama Leads In Iowa And Wisconsin, Swing State Polls Show

Source: Huffington Post

President Barack Obama remains well ahead of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the battleground states of Iowa and Wisconsin, according to an NBC/WSJ/Marist poll released Thursday evening.

The polls, conducted between Oct. 15 and Oct. 17, found Obama leading by eight points in Iowa, 51 to 43 percent, among likely voters. In Wisconsin, Obama leads by six points, 51 to 45 percent. In both states, the results are nearly identical to those of polls taken in September before Obama's numbers dipped nationwide.

“There were two debates, but you can’t tell it from the numbers," Marist's Lee Miringoff told NBC.

While there's still time for the race to shift, the window for change is smaller in Iowa, where a third of likely voters said they'd already cast their ballot, and 11 percent more said they intended to vote early. Three quarters of Wisconsin voters said they wouldn't vote until Election Day.

IMO, the news will keep getting better as more polls factor in Obama's kick-ass performance in debate #2

7. Not so. But, they will help get it done!

Florida is still up for grabs, and that is 29 electoral votes, Colorado is 9, Virginia 13, and these are trending Obama after the stellar debate performance.

Did I mention, Mitt really blew it with women voters and Hispanics?

2. Still not good.

With Iowa and Wisconsin in the blue state camp- you STILL could have a number of scenarios that
the other guy wins.

Here is one:

If Florida, Virginia and Ohio go red, then we still are in a world of hurt even if we take Wisconsin and Iowa.

3. Improvement in polls will come

I don't think there's any universe where the polls don't get better for Obama - even Gallup.

#1: Viewership was roughly the same as in the 1st debate, which means people are still engaged, good for O.

#2: Romney made an ass of himself to women, and the polls tightening has been largely on the strength of improving numbers among women. See #1, Romney will take a dive with women. In fact, this is already happening per Rachel Maddow's analysis of the IA and WI polls out today.

#3: The win WAS a win. Think about the huge spate of polling we had after the 1st debate, primarily from Republican/Conservative leaning outfits. Where are the polls this time? Hmmmm.....

10. There is not enough voters left to make a change in the polls

Almost every voter has made up their minds, there just are not enough undecideds left to affect the numbers.

What you see now is what to expect in November.

And welcome to DU

9. The Debate turned things around

And this is evidence of it.

Obama's going to win Wisconsin and Iowa, there's no doubt of that.

The 7% Romney lead in Gallup will disappear shortly.
