Evangelicals mobilize for Romney campaign

Source: USA Today

The Romney-Ryan ticket is the first Republican presidential campaign in history without a Protestant candidate, but this hasn't deterred evangelicals from launching massive get-out-the-vote and registration efforts to help Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan win the White House.

Faith and Freedom Coalition founder Ralph Reed, who has been involved in pushing evangelicals to the polls since 1988, has launched what he described as the "largest voter registration, voter mobilization and get-out-the-vote effort ever targeted at evangelical voters," specifically those who would be new additions to the voter rolls.

Reed's effort targets not only presidential swing states but also those with critical Senate and House races to help elect conservatives down-ballot as well.

Working with third-party contractors, Reed and his group were able to identify and mail voter registration packets to slightly less than 2 million unregistered evangelicals based on everything from Census data to television preferences to what books they may have purchased online. "There are millions of Bibles purchased in the United States every month. Most people aren't interested in finding out who is buying those Bibles — I am," Reed said.

Talk about deals with the devil. Evangelical pastors scrub their literature of prior hate propaganda calling Mormonism a cult, they allow GOP contractors like Ralph Reed access to records regarding who buys bibles, in order to support a candidate who has all but declared war on women and the poor. This is about as antithetical to the Biblical Jesus as I could imagine.

5. while i am confident that obama will win re-election

(unless cheating, flipping votes and rigging machines, and voter suppression result in another stolen election) i would never have believed i'd see the day when american evangelicals would vote for a non-christian over a christian, just because the christian is black.
in fact, i would have bet that americans would never elect a non-christian to the whitehouse.
i guess racial bigotry is stronger than religious bigotry for evangelicals. who would have guessed?

7. My intuition is a lot of them leave the presidential box blank on election day. They're

planning on answering to Saint Peter sometime and they don't want the answer they give to include "I once voted for a Mormon over a Protestant."

That's the beauty of the secret ballot.

11. For those Evangelicals who believe in the end times...

maybe they should read Matthew 24 prior to going to the polls.

...10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
