Joe Scarborough Criticizes Mitt Romney For 'Running Over' Candy Crowley, Obama At Debate (VIDEO)

Source: Huffington Post

Joe Scarborough criticized Mitt Romney for allegedly "running over" Candy Crowley and President Obama at Tuesday's debate.

Romney sparred with Crowley over the rules of the debate and speaking time. On Wednesday's "Morning Joe," Scarborough charged that Romney "came on way too strong" against Crowley and Obama. He said that Romney got two things wrong at the debate:

One, you don't run over a female moderator. You just don't. Stylistically you don't. It's very dangerous. Jim Lehrer, fine. You can get out a knife and, you know, have a knife fight with Jim Lehrer, fine. But you don't do that with a female moderator. It's problematic.

Secondly, you don't run over the president of the United States. Whether that president's a Republican or whether that president is a Democrat. There are independent voters who believe that a president should be treated with deference because he is the commander in chief.

2. First, thank you Scarb. Second, I don't agree about "OK to run over Lehrer but not a woman"

Campaign people request rules for the debates and negotiate ones all can agree on. Then Richie Rich gets to the debates and 5 min. in, throws the rules out the window. Ignoring the mod whoever it is, man or woman, is just bad manners and yells out, "The rules don't apply to me, the entitled rich guy who always gets his way."

I agree with the part about the president. Just be civil and polite---he does represent all US citizens due to his election, whoever it is (except in the case of W, who stole the election).

12. I keep wondering why they don't just turn off the mics

The candidates agree to the rules in advance, they promise to follow them, why should they have a problem agreeing to an automated system that switches off the mics at 2 minutes - like they agreed - unless they intend to break their promises and violate the rules they just agreed to? There would be nothing personal about it, the clock doesn't favor one candidate over the other, but when your two minutes are up, they're up, end of story. I understand that the stakes are high and candidates want to get their message out, so fine, you give them a ten second grace period after the timer runs out before the mics actually cut out. Of course, no one wants to interrupt a potentially important point, but, by the same token, these things are supposed to be fair debates between mature adults, not a childhood recess where the bully dominates the playground.

16. They could do it like IndyCar where you get several changes to boost your power

Make the mics cut off automatically at 2 minutes, but give each candidate a button that gives them 3 overrides of 15 seconds each. When you push that button you lock out all the other mics -- including the moderators -- and boost your own volume 5 decibels for 15 seconds. But you can anly do it three times in 90 minutes, so pick your spots wisely.

That would be cool.

Of course the next morning, the MSM would only be talking about who used their overrides the best -- and never get around to discussing the substance of what the candidates actually said.

I guess the problem would be that, if one were to impose such restrictions now, it would be perceived as a reactionary and prejudicial slam to Mittwit, since he's been the worst offender necessitating such extreme measures.

"OK, we have a challenge flag thrown by President Obama. Ms. Crowley is going under the 'fact checking hood' to decide this one. This is a close call. Did Governor Romney have complete possession of the facts, or was he completely out of bounds with that claim? Let's look at another camera angle on that one ..."

Your VP candidate has to step in when you get the hook.

And then when Ryan tells his 6 lies, Obama gets the remaining 76 minutes to himself.

I don't think a person should run over any moderator....man or woman....we women can defend ourselves, we don't need a man to help us. Candy proved that a woman has no problem dealing with a bully....so.... shhhhh Joe, we can handle ourselves.

Sorry about the rant, but it's getting on my nerves.

difference.

If you can respect people, like Obama, and they have no power, you give them some of yours. When all you get is the power, you can piss on the people and it just won't matter to you.

Is it some sort of steroids or amphetamines or something?

He is too hepped up. That just can't be his normal personality. He is overly nervous and impatient. He can't wait his turn. He can't sit down.

We had a family reunion not so long ago. The under-fives were able to sit and be quiet longer than Romney.

This is very odd.

It matters that you disrespect the office of POTUS, especially if you are running for that same office.

Then he said Romney has it easy, because Obama has a record he can attack, and what has Romney done? Nothing.

Perhaps playing "Liar" by 3 Dog Night, or "You're No Good" by Linda Rondstadt. Or just like the Academy Awards, cue the band when Romney won't shut up, and send a couple women in evening gowns out to return him to his seat.
