Crowley challenges Romney on Libya

Source: Politico

Gov. Romney responded by suggesting the president had actually taken more than two weeks to admit that the attack in Benghazi was a terrorist attack, as opposed to a spontaneous act following demonstrations against an American-made, anti-Muslim film.

"I think it's interesting the president just said something, which is that on the day after the attack he went into the Rose Garden and said that this was an act of terror," Romney said.

"That's what I said," Obama replied.

"You said in the Rose Garden the day after the attack, it was an act of terror," said Romney. "It was not a spontaneous demonstration, is that what you're saying?"

"Please proceed governor," said Obama.

"I want to make sure we get that for the record because it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of terror," said Romney.

"Get the transcript," Obama replied.

For the first time during the debate, Crowley moved to correct one of the candidates.

"He did, in fact, sir. So let me -- let me call it an act of terror..."

"Can you say that a little louder, Candy?" Obama asked.

1. I was pleasantly surprised at her moderation.

I thought she was very fair.

She kind of gestured helplessly to Romney, 'that's what you said, Mitt, and you were wrong, I have to call them as I see them.'

3. It was perfect....

especially that Romney gave that smug look to Obama, like a father who is calling out his child for lying, then Romney was the one that immediately got called out in front of everyone. Priceless!

2. actually it was Romney who pushed it to that point

and that was the best part about it. the person who asked was not an undecided voter but a republican , and Romney pushed it to end the way it did.

4. Fox and RW radio have sold this to themselves. They were SURE this was a winner.

They jumped on this tragedy (like Romney did the night of the attacks) and have drilled into their own heads. They think that this erases all of President Obama juggernaut of foreign policy accomplishments. Over and over and over every hour on radio Rush and Hannity have been taking victory laps with this. The timeline- edited audio clips - this was the one.

This also shows the difference in how the right reacts to a national tragedy opposed to how the left reacted to a national tragedy (9/11).

"He has no answer" they declare hourly. "Failyure! "Liar" etc.

But .....it was a trap. No one in the MSM has reported on the Rose Garden statement. It was drown out by the beligerent RW media.
The President did call it (the entire inflamed mess) and act of terror both in the Rose Garden and the next day. MSM has followed the RW into this story, this cottage industry only to have it blow in the faces. The WINNER is off the table.

Don't think that the Obama campaign made very sure that Candy Crowley knew what the transcript of the Rose Garden speech said. They let the RW go on and on and on about it knowing that this was like a rake in the grass. And Mitt stepped square on it.
