Soup Kitchen President: Ryan Did Wash Dirty Dishes

Source: TPM

Brian Antal, the president of a soup kitchen in Ohio, said on Tuesday that his prior comments to the Washington Post were misconstrued and that Paul Ryan did in fact wash several dirty dishes during a photo op with the press this past weekend, NBC News reports:

In response to questions about Antal’s comments to the Washington Post that Ryan “did nothing” while at the soup kitchen, Antal said his words were mischaracterized. He told NBC News in that Ryan did very little work only compared to the larger context of Saturday morning, when the kitchen fed 180 homeless people breakfast. Antal conceded that Ryan did wash several dirty dishes.

39. He's afraid of losing donations.

He said earlier he never would have let Ryan do this, or Obama for that matter because he relies on donations from people of both parties. I guess the Secret Service doesn't care too much about Ryan if the let him make surprise visits to places. I expect Romney is getting better protection.

I believe the story as first reported. Either way, Ryan got in there without official permission and us using that kitchen for nothing more than a photo op. There is nothing whatsoever to indicate he would do anything to help the poor.

15. At the :10 second mark you can see a guy take the clean pans from under the counter ...

and put them in the sink.
Then when Ryan is washing them he holds them at a weird angle so that the inside of the pan can not be seen.
They were NOT dirty.
He barely does any scrubbing.
That is NOT how to wash a pan.
He didn't even wash the edges or the outside.

48. I worked as a waitress and dishwashing was hot, steamy, messy and dirty unpleasant work

Pans that needed extra hand scrubbing were covered in baked on grime and grease and very hot water was used. The other dishes go through a machine with scalding water. The floors are full of messy food and at the end of the night the kitchens were hosed down from the walls down. That's why the walls are covered in metal.

That kitchen the Ryan family were in had already been hosed down.

Antal -- who wasn't at the soup kitchen at the time of the Ryan visit -- said his volunteers left some dirty dishes in the kitchen for Ryan to clean. -snip-

Read more: http://www.tmz.com/2012/10/16/soup-kitchen-paul-ryan-brian-antal-washing-dishes/#ixzz29VAWG7fa

All I got from this is Antal wasn't there to see what actually happened. Leaving some dirty dishes out doesn't mean Ryan actually washed them. And then there is the video showing Ryan only washing clean dishes.

But here's why the story really matters ....

To know that when someone does a complete 180 about what they said it's one of 3 things - Saving their ass from going to jail, Saving their relationship with someone or someone wrote them a big juicy check.

I doubt that it's jail or a girlfriend which leave a big juicy check from someone.

If that's the case and it comes to light then it's gonna look real bad for Romney Ryan team

They knew he was coming so they "left some dirty dishes for him to do." That is NOT helping out. That is NOT pitching in. Even if they supposedly left some dishes for him, that is NOT volunteering. That is utter bullshit. Frankly, sounds like they forgot to leave dirty trophy dishes for him to use, so they had to grab clean ones.

This stinks. Fuck those people.

I needed to know that he actually washed dirty dishes. It is one of the most important things to know about their campaign.

But the other thing that is still unanswered is whether they used light or medium starch in his apron. I still have had no decisive answer to that question, and that is a matter of utmost importance for determining proper Vice Presidential dress while cleaning.

58. Never dry dishes with towels

Anyone who has worked in a professional kitchen knows you do not dry off dishes. They need to air dry unless you use paper towels. The other interesting thing to me in this video was how clueless the kids were. Have they never had to clean up? Different lifestyles I suppose. It would not bother me if it was not for the fact that it is being used as a psyop. We are like you little people see?

72. I thought the same thing--Always air-dry to avoid contamination from a dirty towel

unless it's paper towel, in which case it must be discarded after each dish. (Paper towel is only used if you need to use that dish immediately.)

Hand-washed dishes also require a dip in the instant sanitizer.

66. He was washing catering warming pans

Rarely would these type of pans be used as other than pans to hold water in, the pans with the food in them are then placed into these pans over a flame. I use them all the time as a caterer. The pans he washed were probably still sitting in the sink because they never had food in them and didn't need to be washed. Only saw him wash 2 of these pans and there was no food on them that I could see. Damage control.
