John Raese, West Virginia GOP U.S. Senate Candidate, Walks Out On Newspaper Editorial Board

Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/15/john-raes

West Virginia Republican Senate candidate John Raese walked out of a newspaper editorial meeting on Friday after he reportedly learned that a third-party candidate, Bob Henry Baber of the Mountain Party, was also attending, according to the Charleston Gazette.

The three candidates were at the newspaper office on Friday to give their views to editors and reporters on issues facing West Virginia, ahead of the newspaper editorial board's endorsement of a candidate in their Sunday paper.

The newspaper said Raese told a Gazette editor that he would not be in the same room as Baber because Baber had criticized him in a debate in early October.

The Huffington Post reached out to the Raese campaign seeking comment, but did not receive a response in time for publication.

More details from Mountain party press release:

In an encounter outside the interview Raese crossed paths with
Baber, who reached out to shake his hand. Raese refused to shake
hands with or even to look at Baber. He then said, "I refuse to be in
the same room with him."
Upstairs, just a few minutes later in the interview room, there was
quite a stir over Raese's apparent departure. Baber said to Manchin,
"Oh, surely he will attend." Manchin replied, "You don't know the
man. He won't be back." Manchin's words proved to be accurate.
Raese took his ball and went home.

Cruising toward his fifth straight statewide electoral loss in W.Va., the Florida Republican provides us with some end of campaign stupidity.
Democrats here are gonna miss having him around to make fun of.

3. Serial loser Raese doesn't play well with others.

Manchin, Baber discuss mountaintop mining, redistricting after Raese walkout

At an Oct. 2 debate in Shepherdstown, Baber repeatedly came to Manchin's defense, after Raese tried to link Manchin to President Obama. At the end of the debate, Baber used an expletive to describe Raese's tactics.

Baber and Manchin said Friday they were surprised Raese left the meeting with Gazette editors before it started.

"How can you elect a man who's incapable of coming to a forum?" Baber asked. "We need people who sit down and talk to each other."

Raese told a Gazette editor that he would not stay in a room with Baber because Baber insulted him at the Shepherdstown debate. Raese said he did not have a problem with Manchin being at Friday's meeting.

"I guess he thinks because Bob and I agree on some things there's some collusion going on," Manchin said.

5. Remember when Raese made up this conspiracy about Obama ending the 4H program?

I learned about that story from the May 3 Mike Malloy show. Go to the 7:00 mark of the following video, where Mike reads and comments on the Huffington Post article "John Raese Alludes To Hitler, Claims Obama Wants To Kill 4-H Youth Programs":

Listen, as Mike has something peculiar to say about Raese saying "Barack wants to stop all children from working on the farm." (The thumbnail image is not Raese rather another man whose story was part of this segment.)

10. Raese's wife was registered to vote in two states.

Raese and his wife Liz have two daughters, Jane and Agnes. Liz is the founder of the Conservative Women of West Virginia (CWWV). They have homes in Palm Beach, Florida, Telluride, Colorado, and Morgantown, West Virginia. In 2010 Liz Raese was registered to vote in Florida, where their children go to school, so her West Virginia voter registration was purged, leaving her unable to vote for her husband in his 2010 race for the US Senate from West Virginia.

Maybe they were trying to get out the fraud vote.

13. They're not going to let all their histrionic screaming about 'voter fraud'

keep them from trying to commit voter fraud. The carpet-bagging candidacy is a nice touch, too.

Maybe he's trying to build a base for a presidential run, by having his wife vote from her residences in all 50 states.

That must count as integrity in GOP land. The sanctity of never compromising.

9. Raese refused to shake hands ....

"Raese refused to shake hands with or even to look at Baber."

Many years ago there was a documentary/movie about John Henry Faulk's lawsuit against a Texas Reich-winger who had publicly, McCarthy-like, slandered him. Before the trial Faulk's attorney points out the Reich-wing wad of ass to Faulk who immediately goes over to him, introduces him, and shakes his hand. When his attorney asked him why he did that, Faulk replied that "I just wanted to let the son-of-a-bitch know I had more manners than him."
