Indications of hope for shot Pakistani girl

Source: CBS News

ISLAMABAD In Pakistan Saturday chants of "Malala....we are with you," supporting 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai shot in the head on her way home from school. The Taliban claims responsibility for the assassination attempt four days ago. Doctors on Saturday saw signs of hope.

Rarely have Pakistanis come together in such shared outrage in a country used both to terrorist attacks - and violence against women - this shooting marked a new low. It's triggered vigils, prayers - and protests.

Malala was transferred into the care of Pakistani military surgeons this week.

They removed the bullet that had been fired into her head, but which came to rest in her upper chest. . .

We can all only hope so. I'm not religious at all, but maybe a tiny prayer just this time.

1. I'm not religious either...

...and I don't pray. Never been able to. (Even when I went to mass once a day and on holy days as I was taught. Before I realized I was an atheist at 19. )

But one doesn't have to be religious or believe in a god to want good things to happen to people and be horrified and angry when people do bad things to others.

She has been in my thoughts since this all happened.

3. Idle Minds Art the Devil's Playground?

I'm idly wondering who's side Almighty Allah is on in this little down-to-earth, earthly spat: hers or His army of righteously devout, intelligently designed, Talibanistas. For that matter, I'm also idly wondering, who's side our own Almighty God is on; you know, the one and only one that I-shalt-put-no-other-before-Him one. I pray that at least one of these fine fine, mighty fine boogymen in the sky has it in His heart to be on her side.

My pastor preaches that an idle mind is the devil's playground...
Izzat true?

6. Pakistan's Malala has 'very limited' chances

Al Jazeera
October 14, 2012

A Pakistani schoolgirl shot in the head by the Taliban is in critical condition and has slim chances of recovering, a source in the hospital where she is being treated has told Al Jazeera.

The source said on Sunday the next 12 hours were critical for 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai, who is hospitalised in the city of Rawalpindi.

Yousafzai has "very limited chance of life left", said the source, declining to be identified because he is not authorised to speak to the media.

" face and head swelled alot. Face complexion become dark. She could be removed from ventilator within a few hours," he said.

7. Horrible

Let's hope she survives to become an icon against these savages.

9. She may make a good recovery

Isn't Obama supposed to be a Muslim terrorist or soft on them or something? Evidently the Taliban doesn't know that.

"We targeted her because she would speak against the Taliban while sitting with shameless strangers and idealized the biggest enemy of Islam, Barack Obama."
