Romney's Company Forces U.S. Flag to Be Lowered (REMOVED) in IllinoisLast edited Fri Oct 12, 2012, 03:55 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
Source: Just heard on Big Eddie's radio show
"The Presidential Candidate holds major stock in a company called Sensata. The company recently made factory officials take down the American flag when they were forced to train their Chinese replacement workers, according to Tom Gaulrapp, with the United Steelworkers Union." Read more: http://www.salem-news.com/articles/october112012/romney-us-flag-tk.php This is in Freeport, Illinois. Is this OK with you? Remember when it was as if Obama was a traitor, because he did not wear a lapel FLAG PIN every hour of every day? The parentheses in the headline are mine.

Ed Schultz is teasing the story for his MSNBC show tonight. We shall see. Edit. After more searching, the part of the story about the Chinese flag being raised instead of the American flag does not have documentation. Let's all see what Ed says on his show, tonight. |

I feel that we are geographically too widespread.
Too ignorant of the political system. Too ignorant, period. Our country has been "dumbed down" since we made an impact in the 60's- 70's Education is not paramount anymore. Thinking is smart people will figure it out, then demand or force change. Kept in fear of the military machine. Believe in the propaganda news, spewed to us from all directions. Lack of critical thinking, not taught in schools anymore. I could go on and on. |

|
But, the low information, republicans, don't care. Either they think it will always happen to someone else, someone who just didn't work hard enough, or if their own job is outsourced, it is all the Democrats' fault.
Raising the Chinese flag in place of the US flag, is simple enough for them to understand as an insult to their prime symbol of their patriotic selves. I for one, can't wait to point out to them which political party flies the Chinese flag on American soil! |

by the Far Reich that even we Dems - and Obama - forgot to even bring it up at the debate that Romney's companies have been shipping jobs overseas.
OBAMA- READ THIS- DURING THE NEXT DEBATE- BE SURE YOU CALL OUT ROMNEY'S SHIPPING JOBS OVERSEAS!!! And I love the article- but it is confusing the way they had the headline read "US Flag Lowered" because lowering the flag means someone died and it is lowered out of respect-there is no offense in doing that. The article then went on to say the flag was REMOVED - which is an insult to our country. So re-write that headline before you promote it any further. It takes away from the impact of what actually happened. Thanks for posting it. |

|
all I could find was a Steelworkers video showing a Chinese flag flying as part of a protest against what Sensata was doing in Freepoint, with other sections of the video showing Sensata factories in China flying the Chinese flag. A Daily Kos story confirmed that a protester in Freeport brought a Chinese flag.
I think it's an outrage that the US flag was removed. But I'd have to see more confirmation of any rumors that the Sensata factory in Freeport flew the Chinese flag. So far people seem to be getting confused by that video. |

I hope Ed's producers either have this part of the story nailed down, or they should focus on the flag being taken down, which is bad enough.
Ed should ask every American business that has not outsourced jobs to fly a flag out their window, or tape a flag inside their window in an act of defiance against Romney and other "job creators," who create jobs in China. |

When I first heard about the plant closing a few days ago and knowing how Romney operates, my immediate reaction was that this could be a set-up. At the time, I couldn't imagine that with the potential damage that could be done to Romney this close to election day, that Bain capital would be closing a plant and shipping jobs to China. Now, this issue of the Chinese flag comes up. Maybe I'm too much of a conspiracy theorist, but I would not be surprised to see the process stopped and Romney be given full credit for and saving the day. These bastards have proven time and again that they will do and/or say anything for political gain.

That's when you know you are in trouble!!
On another note... I feel that all who are running for public office should divest themselves of any private and public holdings. Just to be able to run, part of the vetting process. Not only in their own name but in all of their families names, no sons, daughters, wives, grandparents, uncles... etc. And fu**ing prove it!! Be above board, let no chance of any improprieties occur. You are here to SERVE us, not make money off us. Public office is not the place to make money, other than what you are fairly paid. You are taken care of for the rest of your life, just because you served. Taken care of better than most of the American populace. Bet Mitt wouldn't have even run if that was the law. Think of all the other "interests" that that are pandered to because this is not the rule! PAC's may have less of an impact. Or am I just too naive? Sorry for the off topic rant!! |

|
As we all know, Romney/Ryan are campaigning on "Saving the American Dream!"
The article details one employee losing her Freeport job is Dot Turner, who is so close to retirement, but will not receive it. Instead Dot will get just 26 weeks’ severance for 43 years of work in the plant. Like Romney always said, "I like being able to firing people who provide service to me." Well Romney never gave the Rockport employees an opportunity to provide services. Two days after Sensata/Bain bought the company, it announced it was closing it down and moving it to China. |

46. The bad thing is that there was absolutely no need to outsource.
|
Sure, from a business standpoint, maybe outsourcing can be justified in the slightest (but still unethical) sense, if the company is struggling.
However, this Sensata plant was highly profitable. There is no logical reason to outsource, and ship jobs overseas. Throw in essentially committing treason at a corporate level by taking down the US Flag and putting up the flag of another country, and you have a problem. At one company I worked for, they flew 3 flags, but did it in the proper way. First, the US Flag was there, flying highest of all. Then the state flag of California, was next to it, but a little lower. Then, because the company was close to the Mexican border, the flag of Mexico was next to them, but below both. |

"The second topic, which is you said you get a deduction for taking a plant overseas. Look, I've been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you're talking about. I maybe need to get a new accountant. But the idea that you get a break for shipping jobs overseas is simply not the case."
~ Mitt Romney, presidential debate, University of Denver Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston) has joined workers in asking Romney to show up and help. Illinois' Governor Pat Quinn has visited the workers in Freeport, and asks Congress to pass the Bring Jobs Home Act. The Bring Jobs Home Act would eliminate the tax breaks that encourage companies like Bain and Sensata to close factories here and send the jobs and the work to countries like China, with the cash stopping off in the Cayman Islands for a quick tax cleansing. The Bring Jobs Home Act was recently filibustered by Senate Republicans. Sensata workers collected 35,000 petition signatures, asking Romney to come to Freeport to help save the workers' jobs. This video shows what happened when they tried to deliver these petitions and a letter at a Romney campaign office in Madison. Instead of accepting the letter and petitions, the campaign locked them out and called the police. Source: OurFuture.org The Sensata workers have had to train their replacements from China, and had their severance packages reduced. They are now fighting to save their jobs in Freeport, Illinois from being outsourced to China. Source: BainPort.com Sensata workers attack Romney's profit 'harvest' comments "He's getting a tax break on Sensata stocks while Sensata sends our jobs to China," said Sensata worker Cheryl Randecker. Source: RockRiverTimes.com Mitt Romney Gets Tax Break Off Firm Sending Jobs To China The workers have pleaded with GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, the founder of Bain Capital, to exert his considerable influence to save their jobs. So far, he has declined to weigh in, and the factory is scheduled to close by the end of the year. Source: HuffingtonPost.com |

57. Wake up everybody

My God when will people realize that these multinationals like Bain Capitol, Exon-Mobile, Walmart, etc., etc., etc, have absolutely no allegiance to any country, their allegiance is to the bottom line, the almighty dollar. The people who run, serve on the boards and own the largest shares in these companies don't give a tinkers damn about any constitutional democracy. After doing business in China and other non-democratic countries they all see that a totalitarian state like China is great for the bottom line. Don't kid yourself China is no longer a communist state it is an ubber-capitalist state with a totalitarian government. Democracy is a system of governance. Capitalism is a system of economics. Communism is a system of economics. Totalitarianism is a system of governance. The big question here in America in this election and every election in the foreseeable future is whether or not we want to live in a democratic country with a capitalist economy or do we want to live in a totalitarian state with an ubber-capitalist economy. Many of the 1% and their sycophants believe that freedom means only the right to make as much money as possible regardless of the effects of this activity. Deluded people all. Time to stop them from wielding any power over any of us.

62. Romney will pretend he's never even heard of Bain Capital
|
and despite the fact Romney still has millions invested in Bain funds. Even now! I hope Obama will challenge Romney to completely divest himself of Bain investments funds and avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. Even Bush transferred all his money into treasuries when he became President.

64. This should be a national story, Mitt owns 10 companies in conjunction with Chinese owners.
|
Mitt owns 51% of the Sensata company, and one of the plants is scheduled to be shuttered on November 5th, the day before Election Day.
That takes a lot of gall, closing a plant you own a day before you want to be elected President of the United States. The work at the plant is being transferred to China, and the American workers will be laid off when the plant is closed. Right there in Freeport, Illinois. You would think some reporters would want to talk about this on national tv. You might even wonder if Candy Crowley is even aware of this story. You may question why Anderson Cooper hasn't mentioned this at all on his program. It's not like this is a national security issue, or a big secret, or anything like that. It's been written about in Freeport, Illinois for the last several weeks and months. Ya know, right here in the good, ol' US of A. |
