Paul Ryan outraised by House opponent (D-Rob Zerban)
Source: Politico
By TARINI PART Rob Zerban is cashing in on the fact that his opponent for the House of Representatives is also the Republican vice presidential nominee. Zerban’s campaign announced Thursday that it raised $770,000 in the third quarter of 2012, outpacing Rep. Paul Ryan. Ryan’s House campaign raised $566,743 from 2,700 individual donors with a largely absent candidate. Kevin Seifert, Ryan’s campaign manager, said the Wisconsin congressman stopped attending fundraisers for his House race immediately after he was selected as Romney’s running mate. The campaign still has $4 million on hand after spending $1.8 million. FULL story at link. Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82049.html

his district which includes significant parts of Waukesha - or as I call it "Walkershaw" County.

Last edited Fri Oct 5, 2012, 08:08 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Ryan still has a war chest that he hasn't tapped, his opponent has just begun to run ads, while Ryan is a known quantity to his district who benefits from donations made to and ads run on behalf of or in support of the Romney/Ryan ticket. I suspect that a lot of money that would otherwise be given to Ryan in his district for his Congressional campaign is being given to the national ticket and the folks supporting that ticket are still going to support Ryan at the polls, even if they aren't funding his house seat campaign.
I wish it wasn't so, but to be honest, I think money given to Tammy Baldwin's campaign for Senate is money better spent than money given to try to knock out Ryan in his house race. |

13. Ryan screwed his friends on the car plant he didn't do squt to save
|
He is in trouble now that they figured it out. http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/paul-ryan-defends-attacking-obama-over-auto-plant Paul Ryan defended his mention of a GM plant in his district that closed in 2008 under President Bush in an interview with CNN, saying it was indicative of Preisdent Obama's economy. "It's still idle," he said. "The point is this is a story of the obama economy. A man running for president in 2008 making all these grand promises and then none of them occurring." Ryan lobbied White House auto czar Steve Rattner in 2009 to reopen the plant, but was told that the administration doesn't make decisions about individual car companies' production lines. He has not said if he still supports spending federal dollars to rescue a single private plant in his district, but frequently chides Obama for "picking winners and losers" in the economy. |

14. The last ones I saw were from a month ago
|
Zerban had a poll showing him trailing by 8. Ryan had a poll claiming the margin was 25.
The actual number at that time probably was somewhere in between those two points. I suspect its closer today, but that Ryan still is not in any imminent danger of losing his seat. I hope Ryan goes down, but it still seems pretty unlikely. |
