Rats and mold at Guantanamo prompt request to postpone hearing in Sept. 11 case By Associated Press, Updated: Thursday, October 4, 4:12 PM SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Concerns about mold and rats at the U.S. base in Guantanamo in Cuba could prompt another delay in the Sept. 11 case. Defense lawyers have long complained their offices are filled with moldy, dusty air and infested with rats. Several have gotten sick. Now, health officials at the base have declared the offices unfit for working and have ordered repairs. A lawyer for accused terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed says the repairs may not be finished in time for the next round of pretrial hearings, set to start Oct. 15. Marine Corps Maj. Derek Poteet asked the judge to postpone the proceedings. The judge on Thursday ordered prosecutors to respond to the request. 2. John Yoo advised President Bush that it was (literally) legal to crush a child's testicles...

So who knows? You know the Bush administration put a lot of fucking pine boxes in the ground. You know it. Some of those boxes are going to break open eventually and I'll wish I believed in a god when whatever the fuck spills out. And some of 'em are buried in far away places, deep, deep. My feeling is it ain't over, either. It might've begun with Bush but some part of it probably started rolling long before I was born. There are so many goddamned questions about what happened to this or that during Bush's regime. I still feel that way about Obama for the most part. I guess when the mothers of slain children start taking theaters hostage like the Chechnyn women did in Russia...only then will most bother to look up from their (distraction, take your pick) and earnestly ask what the fuck our government has been up to in our name. And then? Probably only if they know somebody in the theater. PB |

I'm disappointed. |
