Paul Ryan: 30 Percent 'Want Their Welfare State,' 70 Percent 'Want The American Dream'Last edited Tue Oct 2, 2012, 06:16 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
Source: Huffington Post
WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, share a similarly dim view of a very large portion of Americans, according to previously unreported remarks by Ryan. Both believe that many of their fellow citizens are dependent on government and have no motivation to improve their lives -- but they disagree over the precise number. Romney's estimate, famously, is 47 percent. For Ryan, it's 30 percent. "Seventy percent of Americans want the American dream. They believe in the American idea. Only 30 percent want their welfare state," Ryan said. "Before too long, we could become a society where the net majority of Americans are takers, not makers." Ryan's comments were delivered as part of his keynote address at The American Spectator's 2011 Robert L. Bartley Gala Dinner, which the magazine posted online. A reader tipped HuffPost to Ryan's speech, given in November -- six months before Romney's videotaped remarks. Read more: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/02/paul-ryan-30-percent-welfare-state_n_1933730.html This news is just now breaking. The headline currently at HuffPo on the front page is: RYAN CAUGHT ON TAPE: 30% OF AMERICANS WANT WELFARE Check out the photo HuffPo is using on their front page of Ryan's tongue sticking out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ Al Sharpton is fixin' to play the TAPE and discuss this when he returns from commercial.

|
Last edited Tue Oct 2, 2012, 08:12 PM USA/ET - Edit history (4) And then makes the ridiculous conclusion that because they receive 100% of their income from the government, they "do not believe in the American dream" and want a "welfare state," just like Romney concluded that the 47% who do not pay federal income taxes are "victims" who don't "take responsibility for their lives." Of course, the people Ryan is talking about are folks like our seniors on social security (that they paid into all their lives), veterans fighting in Afghanistan (who are paid a pittance to lay their lives down for their country)...oh, and PAUL RYAN.

|
Last edited Tue Oct 2, 2012, 06:36 PM USA/ET - Edit history (2) Is Ryan talking about the thousands of large profitable corporations who pay little or no taxes yet still receive corporate welfare (subsidies) from OUR tax dollars?
Does Ryan also including the rich and their corporations who receive welfare checks from our tax dollars via government contracts while over-charging, profiting off of selling unwanted & obsolete products, as well as for unfinished projects & non completed contracts? Or is he as usual just trashing the less fortunate because the rich hate paying taxes even for things they use, roads, bridges, our courts, police & fire, etc. etc...and prefer to stash their money off-shore while taking advantage of government handouts? |

13. Here is the problem
|
Besides the fact they are both full of crap, they fail to inform the country that the reason so many people need help is because of the failed policies of the "REPUBLICAN PARTY" when they had control of things. Bush pretty much destroyed this country and during his years in the WH jobs were outsourced overseas so "corporations" could make huge profits. Wall street and banks were unregulated and gambling with peoples savings, 401K's and other retirement funds. Trillions of dollars vanished from investors accounts. Our country was fighting two wars which has cost more than a trillion dollars while Bush and the republicans gave huge tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires.
We still give "subsidies" and tax breaks to big oil companies, corporate farms and to those who outsource jobs overseas and the republican congress had made sure that anything that might have helped get this country back on track was prevented from happening in congress. |

Nobody wants to hire old people.
I'm only 48 and the only offers I get are for heavy labor, regularly lifting 70+ pounds and pushing up to 250 pounds and they want to pay $18,000 per year with no health insurance. Like i had no skills at all. You would think to hear them tell it,nine dollars an hour is Good money. Oh and I have to supply my own tools,Hah! I busted my hump for 30 years as an industrial re-finisher,now i have stenosis and scoliosis to go along with degenerative disc disorder. At least I have a retirement someday to fall back on. I feel the pain of the Seniors who have to cope every day on a fixed income, they have it tough but,the kids working these days are going to have it exponentially harder. People who say that "People don't want to work anymore" are in the same league as Ryan who never did a real days work. The Chamber of Commerce supporter's think the sole role of Government is to dole out the good buddy government contracts with 90% profit to cost ratio, Yet paying into Social Security and the collecting of it is tantamount to being a socialist or on welfare. Tell me Mr. Ryan who is it that is on welfare again? Do i need to tell you to crack a book on political science to discover the meaning of Socialism? Or why these social programs were initiated? Perhaps they don't teach that in Poli-Sci at BrownShirt U. Here is a start: http://www2.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/social_security.html I try to be thankful for the part time job where 18 hours a week is considered the American Dream. Still i keep looking for a better job on my generous time off. Sorry for the rant but, this is one of the topics that gets me hot under the collar. |
