Syria tells US and its allies to stop 'interfering' in its civil war

Source: Associated Press

Syria's foreign minister, Walid al-Moallem, has accused some UN security council members of supporting "terrorism" in the country in a speech clearly aimed at the US and its allies who support the opposition.

Addressing the UN general assembly's annual ministerial meeting, Moallem said that peace in Syria would require Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Libya and others to stop arming, financing and supporting the opposition.

Moallem called for a political solution and Syrian-led dialogue to agree on a roadmap to "a more pluralistic and democratic Syria".

He invited the opposition to "work together to stop the shedding of Syrian blood".

2. Are we going to get involved in every uprising in the ME?

This is a proxy war between the The Kingdom and Iran, with the US and Russia being the big boys standing mostly on the sidelines.

NATO is in financial ruin (I believe it was the UK that was running out of missiles after a week in Libya).

An assertive China is starting to push its weight around in the region, and we all know they want Taiwan back, let alone the disputed Islands.

Israel could easily drag us into a form of war with Iran.

We can't be the world police anymore. Literally, we can't afford it. Every time we meddle in the ME and arm someone, it comes back to bite us.

3. "Moallem said that peace in Syria would require Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Libya and others to

arming, financing and supporting the opposition."

Of course, if the government ran out of tanks, planes and artillery shells that might slow the killing down, too.

"Moallem called for a political solution and Syrian-led dialogue to agree on a roadmap to "a more pluralistic and democratic Syria".

He invited the opposition to "work together to stop the shedding of Syrian blood"."
