Under fire from the right, Romney rigorously preparing for debate...This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by REP (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum). WASHINGTON, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Under pressure to regain his balance in the race for the White House, Mitt Romney is going through intense preparation for the first presidential debate next week while his campaign appeals to fellow Republicans to keep faith with their candidate. Romney has appeared to have stopped the stumbling by having a relatively mistake-free week of campaigning after recent troubles that allowed President Barack Obama to build a lead in polls with less than 40 days left until the Nov. 6 election. But Romney has to find a way to move the needle back in his direction before the race slips away. Romney forces are trying to reassure party leaders that the campaign is not over. Campaign manager Matt Rhoades was in Washington this week and met privately with a high-profile group of party leaders to calm any fears and lay out the campaign's plans, Republican sources said... 3. Nope. He's had about 12 debates in 2012 primaries & did well enough to be nominated.

14. Obama in the debates
|
What is likely is that both sides will be given access to the topics under discussion beforehand. I'm guessing that rebuttal time will be extremely limited. In essence, each of them will be giving speeches with little interchange.
Re: the GOP debates - remember that Romney generally was one of four or more candidates on stage, and overall, he didn't do terribly well even then, or he'd have a much bigger lead now. Instead, Romney waited for the press to tear apart his opponents for him. Obama, on the other hand, has had time to grow into the role of being president. He's a considerably better orator than he was in 2008, and even then he was outstanding ... a little stiff, but he knew his material and he had passion about the topics at hand. He may flub something, but I think it unlikely. Romney, on the other hand, is struggling to even define his platform, believes he should be president because he has the most money, and has trouble connecting with anyone who doesn't make $250 million a year or more. I'm also inclined to consider Obama's ace in the hole ... MSNBC. As it's clout builds, it is forcing a lot of the other networks into either shifting their reportage in a more neutral manner or formally admitting that they are right wing shills for the establishment. People are going to be watching less to make up their minds than to see if Obama can rattle Romney, which ironically means that Romney has to both keep on target and keep from blowing his top. If he does that, the debate will probably only serve to staunch the bleeding ... if he doesn't the election is over except for the dirty tricks at the poles. |

15. i wish he would frankly. but he won't. you can't trust anything he says anyway
|
because he could say one thing and then the next day his people will send out a press release saying he never said that. plus he takes every side of every issue when he does say anything specific.

11. I think Obama will play him like a drum.

Romney cannot stand in-your-face opposition and reacts very poorly.
The Obama team is going to pull some Psy-op shit on him and he will melt down. |

at the people saying Rmoney has more debate experience due to the republican primary's and that he must be a great debater cause he won and Obama should be worried. Okay yes, Rmoney has more "recent" debate experience but you have to remember who he was debating against. A room full of right winger low intelligent idiots. All Rmoney proved was he was the smartest idiot in the room. Obama is a very cool, calculated and very intelligent man. He is a different kind of beast all together and if Rmoney thinks it will be smooth sailing like in the Republican Primary's then he is in a world of hurt.
