Thousands rally for Chavez re-election in Venezuela By Agence France-Presse Saturday, September 22, 2012 20:30 EDT Thousands of supporters of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez took to the streets Saturday to push for his re-election, putting the march’s focus on his signature social programs. The socialist and leftist firebrand is seeking a third six-year term, and polls place him ahead of center-left rival Henrique Capriles in the October 7 vote. Throngs of pro-Chavez marchers decked out in the government’s red marched through downtown Caracas toward Plaza O’Leary, chanting boisterously: “Hi Ho. Chavez is not going to go.” “We are here defending the (social) missions, which are the most humble thing, the most human thing, President Chavez’s love,” shouted one unnamed youth on VTV state television, which broadcast the event in full. 1. Picture:
First big rally for the chavistas in a week. Interesting strategy having rallies without el comandante there. Certainly necessary given that Capriles brings out that many people with the drop of a hat and is now getting around 10k new followers every few days on Facebook. |

7. So if Capriles gets 100% of the Facebook vote
|
(which he won't, obviously)
that would be what, 20% of Venezuelans? Or less? Please stop with your misinformation, which I suppose is only coincidentally the State Department line, again. Chavez is winning fairly, again. |

9. What misinformation? I posted only objective fact.

I think Capriles will win and I think Venezuela's election process is ungamable (without it being obvious, in your face).
Chavez is going to lose and when he does I bet the chavistas will be the ones calling fraud. Either way, Chavez wins or loses, I will consider the outcome fair. And because I predicted Capriles will win I expect to be mocked and derided by the most hateful here if he doesn't win. |

4. But the "LIBERAL U.S. MEDIA" likes to paint him as the evil dictator
|
Even though he has been elected twice with over 70% of the vote under internationally monitored elections.
Considering Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004, we could use some U.N. Election Monitors ourselves. |

US interference in Guatemala and US interference in Chile , amongst others , aided and abetted by the press.
He was dead before Chile occurred but it was an accurate assessment. |
