Iranian university bans on women causes consternation
Source: BBC
With the start of the new Iranian academic year, a raft of restrictions on courses open to female students has been introduced, raising questions about the rights of women to education in Iran - and the long-term impact such exclusions might have. More than 30 universities have introduced new rules banning female students from almost 80 different degree courses. These include a bewildering variety of subjects from engineering, nuclear physics and computer science, to English literature, archaeology and business. No official reason has been given for the move, but campaigners, including Nobel Prize winning lawyer Shirin Ebadi, allege it is part of a deliberate policy by the authorities to exclude women from education. On topic, this is disgusting. Persians are some of the most intelligent people on the planet, no matter the gender.
We can certainly have disdain for their policies and not be hinting at "bombing" them. |

We are all born equal as far as natural human rights, not genetically. Just as there is a difference in average height and susceptibility to disease, there are different average and out-lier IQs.
That is neither here nor there, no need to imply what you were trying to when I was merely pointing out the shame of the subject topic. |

There are differences in average IQs.
And apparently persians are on the high end. That necessitates other groups being on the low end does it not? We can't all be above average, math doesn't work that way. |

I think I know what you are implying, which (what I believe you are saying) is that some nationalities have very smart and well educated people. Iran is one of them. There is nothing wrong with saying so, but some people just like to pick fights.

my point had more to do with antiIranian propaganda, as one who was around for build-up to the war in Iraq/Afghanistan it is quite common to elicit sympathy for part of a group in this case women to make punishing the whole under the guise of freeing the them, seem a bit more ah 'liberal' if you will

Keep in mind, the Iranians are Shia, which is less than 15 percent of all Islam, and that the Ayatollahs are a subset of Shia. Youmight as well be talking about Mormons as allChristians, and even then ignoring the fact that there are harry Reid Mormons and Mitt Romney types, as well as types that make both look like hippies.

|
I'm surprised someone with your post count would even have to make an observation like that. You're supposed to pretend that advocating equality for woman in Iran (or in any part of the Islamic world) is tantamount to advocating war against them. You're supposed to pretend that no such rationale exists in Islam, and that all religions are just as bad if not billions of times worse (especially Christianity) when it comes to the treatment of women, gays, religious minorities, etc. You're supposed to pretend that any argument to the contrary constitutes hate speech, with the onus of any barbaric acts of violence inspired by such hate speech being solely on you.
