Rick Perry Blames Separation Of Church And State On Satan
Source: TPM
In a conference call with fellow evangelicals earlier this week, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) shared his thoughts on the origins of the constitutionally mandated separation of church and state. Rather than tracing the idea to the nation’s founders, Perry warned of a more nefarious source: Satan. “Satan runs across the world with his doubt and with his untruths and what have you and one of the untruths out there that is driven is that people of faith should not be involved in the public arena,” Perry said during the call on Tuesday, organized by the Rev. Rick Scarborough. Perry said the separation of religious and civic institutions in the U.S. began with a “narrative” that first took root in the 1960s. “Somehow or another there’s this, ya know, steel wall, this iron curtain or whatever you want to call it between the church and people of faith and this separation of church and state is just false on its face,” the governor said. “We have a biblical responsibility to be involved in the public arena proclaiming God’s truth.” -snip- Read more: http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/09/rick_perry_satan_church_state.php

1. Someone should ask him if he has ever met Satan, and if he has can he let us know where he lives.
|
I wonder if he has pictures or if Satan is a fictional character in his head. I will go with the fictional character in his head. Like George Carlin said: "Keep thy religion to thyself.

2. Truly shocking that Rick Perry doesn't understand the origin of church/state separation
|
I mean, he did get a B in American National Government at Texas A&M. He carried a 2.3 GPA upon graduation from A&M so that was actually one of his better grades. Basically, what I'm saying is that Rick Perry is a genius.

As breathtakingly stupid as he is, he looked to be a mental giant compared to the others in the field. Kind of scary really.

After all, Etch-A-Sketch's religion says Jesus & satan were brothers. Maybe a little prayer to the temple in Salt Lake City will get the answer.

22. OK, Rick Perry thinks George Washington & founders were Satanists. So Constitution is Satanic too?
|
Last edited Thu Sep 20, 2012, 05:45 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) But wait, he and is ilk are always wanting "strict constructionist" interpretations of the Constitution. That would make Rick Perry a Satanist too!

*looks back when European countries had monarchies backed by the church*
Witch Burnings, religious persecution, Inquisitions, less freedoms....hmmmm. *looks at Puritan colonists* More Witch hunts, attacks on Quakers and other groups...hmmmm... Someone should tell Perry it seems to be the other way around. |

What a liar! The public arena is filled to the brim with so-called peopled of faith. Just try to get elected as an atheist. There is no ban on religious people serving in office. HOWEVER, they must govern according to the Constitution, not their interpretation of the Bible. |
