(Newsroom America) Protesters claiming outrage over a amateur video critical of the Prophet Mohammed have besieged the U.S. Embassy in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, reports said Thursday.
Scores of students from nearby educational institutions clashed with Pakistani riot police, as they were blocked from approaching the embassy, Al Jazeera reported.
Protesters threw stones at police, who were said to have returned fire using tear gas. Television reports said several police were injured.
A number of protesters expressed anger at police for denying them access to the U.S. embassy, said Al Jazeera.
