Republicans to expand Latino outreach
By LAURA WIDES-MUNOZ
AP Hispanic Affairs Writer

MIAMI -- Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is stepping up party efforts to mobilize Latino voters.

Priebus on Wednesday announced the appointment of Bettina Inclan to oversee the efforts. She previously led the party's National Hispanic Assembly.

Inclan says the party will focus traditional voter identification efforts and on social media. It's launching a bilingual twitter and blog site targeting Latinos.

Wednesday's announcement comes ahead of the Jan. 31 primary in Florida, where Hispanics make up nearly a quarter of the population.

Many Hispanics are socially conservative and highly religious, two things the conservatives pander to.

I just hope not many Hispanics fall for it.

They've been pandering to their base by turning immigrants into terrorists, rapists, and job stealers for so long that Hispanics won't buy it.

Many think he will be the VP in a crazy Hail Mary to capture some Latino votes. However, he is in a fight with Univision which brought up the fact that his brother in law is a convicted drug felon. Univision is much more powerful than the Republican party with Spanish speaking people in the U.S.

Rubio is also part of an elite group, the Cubans. They got into the country as political refugees unlike most of the other Spanish immigrants.

The Republican politicians and their associated organs have unlimited funds to blow on things like this.

But their corporate overlords aren't going to be happy when they find out what everyone here already knows: the only thing Republicans are really good at is blowing other peoples' money.

12. Better BEWARE!!

My wife is Mexican, attending a junior college in WA; and I can tell you first hand, we had better get the word out LOUD and OFTEN. She tells me that many of her hispanic friends from school are "pro-Republican", simply because "...W tried to address immigration, and Obama has done nothing.?"
Now, we can argue this amonst ourselves all we want; but it's simple little crap-statistics like this that are going to kill us in the election for 2012.
You and I know that it was also the Republicons who KILLED immigration reform, but that isn't in the message. We also should realize that Obama's administration has made some positive changes for illegal immigrants; but that message is totally lost. His administration ALSO has the distinction of record number of deportations from any administration in history.
Simple facts, isolate, don't tell the truth...but the republicons aren't interested in the truth. They are interesting in getting ignorant voters to vote for skewed facts. Another prime example of getting a group of people with a specific concern to ignore all else, and vote for some concern that is simply NOT accurate in the big picture.
Wake up Democratic Party. This is a HUGE segment of the population....and if we lose it, we lose the White House!!

Speaking of course with the clearing of undocumented Hispanic family's being forced to flee their home states after having all their documentation reviewed in everything from their public schooling to utility bills.

Oh yeah, and the ID requirements.

Repubican slogan: "Vote for us! Just don't stay here."

(no, that's not a typo)

17. "Romney’s Competing Messages to Latinos: Deportation in South Carolina vs. Opportunity in Florida"
Thu Jan 12, 2012, 09:38 AM
Jan 2012

Today, FOX News Latino published an article titled, Mitt Romney Pushes Hardline on Immigration in South Carolina. That's no surprise given Romney's increasing hard-line stance on immigration reform. As we have reported, two weeks ago, Romney stated that he would even veto the DREAM Act.

What is curious -- and disingenuous -- is that while Mitt is bashing immigrants in South Carolina, he's courting Latino voters in Florida:

Mitt Romney’s campaign released a Spanish-language television ad in Florida this morning to remind the political world that he has money to burn in the first mega-state primary even as his opponents set up camp in South Carolina.

The spot features several well-known Cuban-American lawmakers — Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and the Diaz-Balart brothers — as well as Romney’s son, Craig.

Aside from the immediate benefits of winning Latino votes in Florida later this month, it would be useful for Romney to show he has some juice among Spanish-speaking voters after a GOP primary that saw his favorability among Latinos drop as he's run right on immigration.

The ad is titled "Nosotros," which is especially ironic since Romney actually supports mass deportation. Immigration is a top tier issue for Latino voters, and Romney's position on DREAM could be especially problematic according to ABC's The Note :

Largely lost in the build-up to the Iowa caucuses was a moment that could ultimately prove decisive in this year’s presidential election: Mitt Romney’s threat to veto the DREAM Act, a bill that would provide a path to citizenship to some undocumented children of immigrants who attend college or serve in the military.
