US prosecutor: 18-year-old arrested for attempting to set off car bomb outside Chicago bar
Source: Washington Post
CHICAGO — FBI agents have arrested a man they say planned to set off a car bomb outside a bar in downtown Chicago. Federal prosecutors say 18-year-old Adel Daoud was arrested Friday night in an undercover operation in which agents pretending to be extremists provided him with a phony car bomb. The U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Chicago said in a news release Saturday the device was inert and the public was never at risk. Daoud is a U.S. citizen from the Chicago suburb of Hillside. 3. I don't think the entrapment defense is very strong in this one:
|
The FBI began monitoring him he allegedly posted material online about violent jihad and the killing of Americans, federal prosecutors said.
In May, two undercover FBI employees contacted Daoud in response to the material and exchanged several electronic messages with him in which he expressed an interest in engaging in violent jihad in the United States or abroad, according to an affidavit. I'll wait for the evidence to kick in, but will opine that if you want to claim entrapement, it's best not to be found trolling the Internet, looking for jihad. |

7. I don't think any of the cases fall under entrapment under the law. But it's definitely MIHOP.

People shit talk and the internet brings out the worst in them to top it off. That guy could've got bored with the extremist shit after a while. We'll never know. They could've arrested him for writing about attacking people but it wouldn't have been very big charges on the scheme of things. They could've just continued monitoring him but instead they set him up to go out in a blaze of glory.

4. Terrorism is contagious, if not treated.

Senator Kyl and Romney may be aggravating domestic and foreign terrorism. Their unpatriotic and inflammatory remarks are hurting us all and I hope this incident in Chicago is not related to their ill-timed comments.
