Arrest in Kashmir in India IC-814 hijack case (1999 hijacking)

A top militant allegedly involved in the 1999 hijacking of an Indian plane has been arrested in Indian-administered Kashmir, police say.

Merajuddin alias Javed Ahmad was arrested from the south-eastern Kishtwar district.

Police said he returned recently from Pakistan via Nepal and was "recruiting youth for militant attacks".

The state-run Indian Airlines jet was hijacked en route to Delhi from Kathmandu with 180 people on board.

But the one you described is a very dangerous guy and he supposedly beheaded Daniel Pearl.

There were five hijackers of the plane who got three terrorists released in exchange for the hostages. I am just sad that Indians don't send commandos into Pakistan and kill these people in situ à la bin Laden raid. Then there is the gangster Dawood Ibrahim who is also actively sheltered by Pakistani ISI and military.
