Poll: Obama widens Michigan lead over Romney to 10 points after convention

Source: Detroit Free Press

President Barack Obama, fresh off a Democratic National Convention in which the turnaround of Michigan’s signature auto industry played a central role, heads into the final 2 months of the campaign with the state’s voters solidly behind him.

A poll done by EPIC-MRA of Lansing for the Free Press, WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) and other media partners showed Obama with a commanding 10-point lead over Michigan-born-and-raised Mitt Romney, whose chances in the state may have been seriously hurt by last week’s Democratic convention in Charlotte.

Democrats made the 2009 rescue of General Motors and Chrysler — and the jobs it saved nationwide — a central theme of the convention, with autoworkers, UAW President Bob King and former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm among the speakers.

“When the whole theme for the Democrats is Osama bin Laden is dead and GM is alive … that’s got to help in Michigan and Ohio and a couple other states as well,” said EPIC-MRA pollster Bernie Porn. . .

That's my home state.

The one where the trees are just the right height.

1. The M$M must be so sad. How are they gonna get people to buy the "neck & neck" b.s. after this?

8. Just watched a video on Yahoo

While they were primarily talking about Ohio, they said that if Romney could put Michigan or Wisconsin into play it would put him in better shape. Well Michigan isn't in play and I very much doubt Wisconsin will be. It sounded they were doing the whole neck & nick just as you were describing.

9. It's really frustrating. But everyone needs to understand that the M$M needs to sell ads. And,

they're making a boatload of $$$$ right now. If they tell everyone that the president is in really good shape to win this election, the GOP will pull their ad dollars. It's such a farce, and it's all about $$$$.

Have I mentioned that I hate the M$M?

2. I'm really happy about that for more than the obvious reasons

We travelled to Michigan--3 1/2 hour drive each way--in 2004 to canvass for the campaign. I'm really glad I won't have to do that this year.
We are probably having to go to Iowa, however. I suppose the drive is just as long ... but if it means taking the state versus losing it, these old bones will make the trip again.

5. I felt like the focus of DNC convention was to shore up MI and OH by using auto bailout.

A move I liked.

11. Spend tons of money as the republicans are planning in Ohio & Pennsylvania

and if republicans voter ID laws to steal the election are slowed down somewhat Obama should win....considering He's got CA, OR, WA & HI locked up (the "left coast")....along with most of NE & NY along with Michigan - He probably would need both Ohio & PA - As still in play are NC, VA, MN, NJ, WI & FL
