Police: Woman pulls gun on congressman in church parking lot

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Authorities in Spartanburg arrested a woman Sunday who is accused of pointing a gun at a U.S. congressman. Police said they arrested the woman after she approached U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., while he was sitting in his vehicle in a church parking lot. According to the arrest warrant, 52-year-old Gloria Brackett pointed a gun at Gowdy because she felt he was following her. The report states Gowdy repeatedly told her he was not following her. It goes on to say Gowdy told the woman he was parked outside the First Baptist Church in Spartanburg waiting for a family member to come out from a church service. The report indicates Gowdy drove off when the woman kept pointing her gun at him. Brackett chased him as he drove off, the report indicates.
