Missouri Legislature to attempt to override Jay Nixon's vetos

Source: STL Post-dispatch

JEFFERSON CITY • Missouri lawmakers will decide this week whether the state should allow religious and moral exemptions to covering contraception in health insurance policies and whether taxes should be reinstated on out-of-state vehicle purchases.

Both bills were vetoed by Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, after the Republican-controlled Legislature ended its regular session in May; but legislators have listed them at the top of their priorities as they return to the Capitol on Wednesday for the annual veto session.

The car tax legislation was intended to reverse a court decision that has recently exempted cars purchased in other states from local use taxes. Nixon has argued that the bill would circumvent local voters and place a retroactive tax on more than 122,000 Missourians who bought cars, trucks or boats in the last six months.

The contraception bill was pushed in response to a new federal mandate that requires religiously affiliated institutions, including universities and hospitals, to offer birth control coverage in employee health plans.

1. I'm glad bringing jobs and prosperity back to MO is so unimportant to the voters in that State

that their elected officials and spend their time on important matters. . .like car taxes on cars bought in other states and religious discrimination against contraception.

Proud, Republican voting choads of MO? I'm sure you have a huge budget surplus and everyone's working. . .what, wait. They aren't and MO doesn't?

Assholes!

2. And "legitimate"... ahem... "proper" rape.

Have to get the correct vernacular, as per Ryan and Akin's sponsored House bill. Too bad Akin fucked up by not using the correct word.

3. Religious Freedom

This is a new concept, that the religious conscience of the employer directs what benefits the employee get. What precedent for that is there? I mean at least since workers were no longer considered serfs. Is this another attempt to crawl back into the 19th century?

4. Jay Nixon has many, so many human supporters and admirers throughout Missouri, Kansas.

Missouri's Republican politicians are racist a-holes, completely worthless hicks and idiots.
