(Ohio) Dems Sue Husted Over Early Voting Flap...

...Dennis A. Lieberman and Thomas R. Ritchie, Sr., were dismissed from their positions on the board (Montgomery County Board of Elections) on Aug. 28 following what Husted described as their refusal to carry out his directive.

The directive, also known as Directive 2012-35, called for uniform weekday early voting hours in Ohio but did not specify any weekend hours. As a result, Lieberman and Ritchie voted to continue with the county’s original plan and hold weekend early voting hours.

According to the lawsuit, Husted’s office contacted the Democrats following their vote via a letter indicating they would be removed from office if they did not comply with the directive.

In the lawsuit, Lieberman argues that his vote to include weekend hours was not in violation of the directive and thus he should not have been removed from his position on the board.

4. Amid all of the political noise, this is an important story to watch.

I believe the GOP is doing everything they can to steal the election in Ohio.

Our Senator, Sherrod Brown, is in a very high profile race, and the GOP wants him gone.

9. I heard Dennis say something last week or even before that ...

where Husted missed a filing date of August 23rd...

I didn't catch the issue he was referring to at the time. I'm guessing Husted had a time frame to file something or to respond to the initial memo of clarification where no weekend voting.

If anyone knows the details for the August 23rd deadline miss by Husted...please share.

7. My vote wasn't counted in Ohio

I moved back to Ohio and I had a valid Calif driver's license and a valid passport but when I tried voting, I had to do it provisionally because none of my IDs had my current Ohio address.

8. That sound correct...

One needs to register at least 30 days before the election. That includes changing your drivers license from California to Ohio residence.

This is the Jim Crow shit you read about in history class. I've typically respected the Republicans as people having different opinions, but since 2000 they've grown so full of hate and disdain for others that they're willing to burn democracy to the ground in order to win.
