Akin TV Ad Buy Canceled — For Failure To Pay The Station

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by cyberswede (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: TPM

Rep. Todd Akin’s effort to continue his bid for the Missouri Senate seat is now faced with a new challenge: Paying the campaign’s bills for TV ads on time.

The Akin campaign’s TV ad buy with the NBC affiliate in Columbia was canceled by the station, according to CBS radio in St. Louis. The campaign had paid the first half of the buy, but the station did not receive the other half. The TV station also said that it has confirmed that other stations have been put in the same position.

The Akin campaign told CBS radio that the payment problem was a scheduling mistake, and the next checks are on their way.

Akin has been frozen out of conventional Republican fundraising efforts, following his false comment that women’s bodies can prevent pregnancy in cases of “legitimate rape,” and the GOP’s efforts to pressure him to drop out. Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus declared last week, “He could be tied. We’re not gonna send him a penny.”

A legitimate non-payment can lead to a forcible cancellation.

proves to me that money is a true god in this country. if a right wing media outlet will eat it's own in the name of getting paid or not,the bottom line is king. Damn you akin, may you go down in flames, no survivors.

All political spots were paid for in advance, before they ran on the air. No money, no runney.

Republicans are just punishing Akin for trying to invent some plausible justification for their ridiculous position. But the position is their platform position and the position of their candidates nationwide why are they not punishing them for not being able to provide a plausible explanation. Akin is a mainstream republican crazy just like the people they are appealing gto. They cannot wink and hide him and their extremism under the rug.
Reince Preiebus is a backstabbing snake, sort of like Romney and Bain Capital. The republicans really need to turn on the evangelical base but it is very difficult when their candidates resemble the serpent in the Garden of Eden.

Don't get caught.

If the GOP had been able to spin his statements into obscurity, he would still have money. The cockroaches want the light kept off their true platform.

For perhaps 1/4 the money the stations could maybe do some static and thin line at the bottom of the screen with his name. I mean he doesn't have much else going, anyway.
