Obama says Romney called Russia our ‘No. 1 enemy’This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by cyberswede (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum). His opponent, Obama said, is "new to foreign policy" and will drag the country back into old conflicts. "After all, you don't call Russia our No. 1 enemy -- not Al-Qaida, Russia -- unless you're still stuck in a Cold War mind warp," Obama said, alluding to Republican rival Mitt Romney. We wondered if Romney really did say that Russia is public enemy No. 1. Read more: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/sep/07/barack-obama/obama-says-romney-called-russia-our-no-1-enemy/ only a madman or a racist may call the Russian enemies of Americans .Hitler called all the Russian enemies of Germany only after the outbreak of war with Russia, and what will happen now? The Americans and the Russians will be killing each other? remembering the "Canadian Bacon" Old trick - to distract people's attention from the problems in the country artificially creating an image of an external enemy and encouraging militaristic hysteria in the country.

3. Putin seems to accept that he did in fact say that.

MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin says Russia can work with Mitt Romney if he's elected U.S. president, even though Romney has called Russia the United States' "No. 1 geopolitical foe." In an interview broadcast Thursday by the Kremlin-funded Russia Today TV channel, Putin spoke directly about the Republican challenger to President Barack Obama. "We'll work with whichever president is elected by the American people. But our effort will be only as efficient as our partners will want it to be," Putin said. Putin expressed concern about how a Romney presidency would affect the long-running dispute over U.S.-led NATO plans to place elements of a missile-defense system in Europe. Russia contends the system could undermine its own defenses. http://news.yahoo.com/putin-russia-romney-elected-083645330.html From yesterday : Putin Calls Missile Deal More Likely if Obama Wins http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014220856 Perhaps now its clear that assuming Obama wins then Putin would expect the shield to be scrapped and IMHO so it should be. |

4. MOSTLY true? Does not politifact realize that "foe" is a synomym for "enemy?"
|
Cheese on a frigging cracker, they might pick up a dictionary every so often...
foe/fō/ Noun: An enemy or opponent. Synonyms: enemy - adversary - opponent - antagonist It's not mostly true, it's entirely true. And the dumbfuck doubled down on it. |

8. Actually, "mostly true" fits
|
Look at those other synonyms of foe; adversary, antagonist, opponent. A "foe" is simply someone whom you oppose in something.
"Enemy" is a much stronger term, carrying connotations of actual strife, perhaps violence. For instance, while you and I are disagreeing here, we could be called foes. But we're not each others' enemy. See the difference? That said, Romney may not have said "enemy," but his phrasing and repeated statements makes it clear he sees Russia as something ot respond to with sabers and not rhetoric. "enemy" was meant, but he managed to, for once, not mouth-fumble, and avoided comitting to the harsher term directly. |

5. Russia may be kinda fucked up but they're FAR from our worst enemy, these days.
|
Yep, Romney definitely went way out on left field with that one.
Hell, even China wouldn't be willing to start WW3 or anything, I don't think. North Korea or Iran, on the other hand? Be afraid, be very afraid, of those two. |

7. Nazi racial ideology
|
Untermensch (German for under man, sub-man, sub-human; plural: Untermenschen) is a term that became infamous when the Nazi racial ideology used it to describe "inferior people", especially "the masses from the East," that is Jews, Gypsies, and Slavic peoples including Poles, Serbs, Russians, Belarusians and partially the Ukrainians. |

16. Russia needlessly helped Iran with their nuclear fuel program
|
The Russian public thinks that the US runs all over them and that their own president is a wuss. So, Vladimir Putin stabs back at us with these "destabilizing" gestures just to keep himself in power at home.
Putin is not helping the Iranian *people* by doing this, either. He is helping their leaders to stay in power! The Iranians are pawns of the empire(s). It's complicated |
