Obama says Romney called Russia our ‘No. 1 enemy’

Putin: Russia can work with Romney if elected.

MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin says Russia can work with Mitt Romney if he's elected U.S. president, even though Romney has called Russia the United States' "No. 1 geopolitical foe."

In an interview broadcast Thursday by the Kremlin-funded Russia Today TV channel, Putin spoke directly about the Republican challenger to President Barack Obama.

"We'll work with whichever president is elected by the American people. But our effort will be only as efficient as our partners will want it to be," Putin said.

Putin expressed concern about how a Romney presidency would affect the long-running dispute over U.S.-led NATO plans to place elements of a missile-defense system in Europe. Russia contends the system could undermine its own defenses.

Perhaps now its clear that assuming Obama wins then Putin would expect the shield to be scrapped and IMHO so it should be.

It's not mostly true, it's entirely true. And the dumbfuck doubled down on it.

Look at those other synonyms of foe; adversary, antagonist, opponent. A "foe" is simply someone whom you oppose in something.

"Enemy" is a much stronger term, carrying connotations of actual strife, perhaps violence.

For instance, while you and I are disagreeing here, we could be called foes. But we're not each others' enemy. See the difference?

That said, Romney may not have said "enemy," but his phrasing and repeated statements makes it clear he sees Russia as something ot respond to with sabers and not rhetoric. "enemy" was meant, but he managed to, for once, not mouth-fumble, and avoided comitting to the harsher term directly.

Yep, Romney definitely went way out on left field with that one.
Hell, even China wouldn't be willing to start WW3 or anything, I don't think. North Korea or Iran, on the other hand? Be afraid, be very afraid, of those two.

The Russian public thinks that the US runs all over them and that their own president is a wuss. So, Vladimir Putin stabs back at us with these "destabilizing" gestures just to keep himself in power at home.

Putin is not helping the Iranian *people* by doing this, either. He is helping their leaders to stay in power! The Iranians are pawns of the empire(s). It's complicated
