Storm soaks Charlotte hours before Obama's speech

Source: huffingtonpost.com

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A thunderstorm popped up over the site of the Democratic National Convention about seven hours before President Barack Obama gives his acceptance speech.

Heavy rain started around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, and the National Weather Service issued a lightning advisory for the Charlotte airport.

Campaign officials had decided earlier in the week to move Obama's speech indoors because of the chance of rain.

2. But...Rush said it was sunny in Charlotte.

Does this mean he was lying?

3. Isn't this the same hall Clinton spoke at?

I don't get the inside outside. Isn't it all inside? It looks like the same hall today as it was yesterday.

5. Not at all. The convention so far has been at the big INDOOR basketball arena.

Tonight was originally planned for the gigantic OUTDOOR football stadium.

7. Yes. Because of thunder forecasts, we are staying inside, instead of moving outside for tonight.

So, the change of plans is that there is no change. Get it?

6. Twice today some right wing douchebags tried to

use the "Obama is afraid he can't sell out a stadium" bullshit. I, of course, replied that it was for public safety due to thunderstorms, and they repeated the lie again. "Sure" they said.

Sorry this ruined yet another one of your constantly misleading narratives.

8. Tell him he doesn't need to vote then, since no one is turning out for Obama.

9. Tell them the numbers

The stadium holds 74,000, and the campaign had 65,000 ticketholders with another 19,000 on standby.

(This is my recollection of Stephanie Cutter on NPR this morning)

11. Boy I bet Charles Sauerkraut.....

...will be mad that he now has to offer an apology for the things he said about how this was only because there weren't enough people to fill the stadium. Especially since ''the Democrats'' have this innate weather-predicting capability and therefore have known for months that the weather was gonna be just fine today.

- But don't hold your breath waiting to hear it though......

13. Was watching Chuck Todd this morning

He was talking about the change of locations for the presidents speech, and then added there was "only a 30% chance of rain". I then went to accuweather.com and they said there was a "60%" chance of thunderstorms today and tonight in Charlotte. Chuck Todd, a total ass!
