The claim was made in a post on the Pastebin site on Sunday that alleged that Romney's federal tax returns were taken from the offices of PriceWaterhouse Coopers in Frankin, Tenn., on August 25 by someone who snuck into the building and made copies of the document.

Pricewaterhouse Coopers released a statement saying it had not found evidence of a system breach.

Romney's campaign headquarters in Fairfax, Va., did not respond to a CNET request for comment.

Meanwhile, the offices of the Democratic and Republican parties in Williamson County where the PWC office is located received packages late last week with thumb drives, but it is unknown what was on the storage devices.

1. An old Rove trick. Steal from yourself and mail it to the opposition.

I hope they nail him on it this time.

2. So PriceWaterhouse Coopers helps him move money to overseas accounts to avoid

American taxes? A company with a reputation for selling tax avoidance to the very wealthy like it was soap. If it wasn't for such services Mi$$ could just use Returns-R-Us and pay his bill like so many others. Then again, the IRS Volunteer Prep program will do most people's returns at no charge, and their service is excellent. (that's a hint for next year, y'all).

Anyway, I knew I was just assuming a nefarious motive on the part of PWC, so I googled "pricewaterhouse cooper tax avoidance"

3. Two words -

Karl Rove. Did Lucianne Goldberg retire her dirty tricks business?

OTOH - I recall an episode of The West Wing involving a tape recording passed to Sam Seaborn (Rob Lowe) when Bartlett was running for re-election. It was a setup by the opposition.

5. Bush vs. Gore, the 'Arkansas Project,' the USA firings, and the Swiftboat Admiral

Karl Rove, one of many doing the dirty deeds in Republican politics. Here is the lineup of stars:

Worry about the trickster we don't know about, the guys in the shadows no one has ever seen, those on the dark side.

4. Was this not reported as being done to blackmail? I don't see the political connection.

6. Blackmailers don't usually advertise "I'm doing blackmail" in the media and expect it to work!

Who is doing this political trick remains an open question, but you can bet that suspicion is NOT intended to fall on Rmoney

7. I thought the Govt(NSA) had a backdoor encryption key to every program sold

I seem to recall that the US Govt demanded a backdoor encryption key be turned over to it in order for any encryption program to be sold in the US.

I know that encryption software experts explained to Congress how many years it would take to crack an encrypted file, and there was fear of terrorist collaboration using the technology.
