Watch the Michelle Obama Speech That Destroyed Twitter [VIDEO]

Source: Mashable.com

Michelle Obama’s Tuesday night speech about her husband and the Obama family at the Democratic National Convention drove 28,003 tweets-per-minute at its peak, nearly double the 14,289 mark reached by Mitt Romney‘s acceptance speech at the Republican convention last week.

Obama’s speech, intended to illustrate the differences between her husband and his Republican challenger, played well on Twitter. It had plenty of short, snackable lines easily packed into 140 characters or less.

This tweet, from the Obama campaign, saw more than 2,000 retweets:

Michelle Obama on POTUS: “He wants every young person to fulfill their promise and be able to attend college without a mountain of debt.”

And this was destined to be the most well-remembered and oft-cited line of the night:

Millions of people watching or listening to Obama’s speech chimed in before, during and after on Twitter, voicing varied viewpoints:

1. I thought that was one of the best lines of the night

10. True, and while I haven't agreed with every thing and every way he's gone about things,

I see the lines piling up on his face and his hair going grey so rapidly. He cares and it is a great burden and responsibility for him to be President of us all. What a contrast to Dubya!

Someone named Lori Gordon, joined just then to write:

What a nasty piece of work that woman is. Shocker.. she's from Alabama. lol. Baffles me how anyone could hear that speech, and come up with that response, and then to embarrass herself using her own name and photo, considering she's a business-person. I mean, why alienate at least 50% of potential clients??? even if you do live in Alabama, there are democrats there.

And... Michelle Malkins tweet, btw, was also very telling about the dried up hearts that reside in the women of the GOP.

6. Absolutely incredible! She spoke with charm and brilliance, and looked perfectly gorgeous. What a

wonderful First Lady she is. We are lucky to have had her and her husband, and I didn't believe I would ever say this four years ago.

7. Thanks for posting the link. . .

to Michelle Obama's speech. It really is quite good.

I understand from another posting that she wrote the speech herself and that is believable. She was/is a highly successful attorney in her own right.

I wish the entire family well and fervently hope that with all of us helping, President Obama will be re-elected and we can oust the Republicans from Congress so that this great country can move forward.

9. I'm late to the party as I worked 12 hour nights the last two nights.

But I can finally say that I'm voting for Barack Obama, not just by holding my nose. I want my President to have access to our future first black female President's counsel. Every day.

Yeah, that was political but she nailed it so well and she is so down to earth in so many ways. Once again, I've been blown away by an Obama.
