Israeli actress Orly Weinerman urges Tony Blair to save Gadhafi’s son, her 'discreet' lover

Source: Haaretz

Israeli actress Orly Weinerman reportedly has urged Tony Blair to help save the life of her "discreet" lover, Saif al-Islam Gadhafi.

The Daily Mail, a British tabloid, quoted Weinerman, 41, as saying that Blair - former British prime minister and now envoy of the Middle East Quartet diplomatic grouping - was an "old friend" of Saif al-Islam, the son of the late ruler of Libya, Muammar Gadhafi.

Saif al-Islam Gadhafi is facing the death penalty in Libya, where he is on trial for his role in the killing of protesters during last year’s uprising against his father.

Weinerman "dated" Saif al-Islam for six year, after meeting him in London in 2005, the tabloid reported.

The paper quotes her as saying that "Saif worked closely with Mr. Blair before he was captured. The two are old friends."

10. Yes, it can't help his cause to have it public knowledge that he dated a zionist actress..

it can't help Blair's situation either to have "Blair and Qadhafi were such good friends" lines scattered around again. And whatever makes life uncomfortable for either of those snakes is just nifty.

14. Being Israeli doesn't necessarily make her 'Zionist'.

One perhaps reasonably could say that of Bliar, though.

What kind of quid pro quo could the Bliar offer the Berbers of Zintan?

15. I'd guess she's asking to have him die in a manner reminiscent of his father.

3. DAILY MAIL??? When did the Daily Mail become a reliable and accurate source?

Are we now accepting Haaretz as a reliable source for that matter?

Good Grief !!!

6. Haaretz is a very good source

In fact, when a Turkish Iman spoke to our synagogue when asked what we should read (in English) to get insight on the middle east, that was what he recommended.

9. I prefer al-Akhbar every day of the week for commentary..

some of Ha'aretz's commentary is just as bonkers and rightist as any of the lunatic fringe papers in Israel (which get quoted down in the basement here on a fairly regular basis), but it is definitely reliable enough as a news and reporting source.

The Mail is absolutely accurate when it comes to spoiled attention whores looking for, well, attention:--which is exactly what she is, I suspect. I mostly just liked the "Blair and Qaddafi were such good friends!" lines wedged in there. May Tony Blair be sodomized sideways with a rusty shrimp fork, and all that.

13. I wouldn't even trust the Daily Fail for that!

It might have some use for those trying to understand the mindset of British right wingers but beyond that, forget it.

In the case of this story, it's a golden opportunity for the Daily Fail to embarass the Labour party, by virtue of it's former leader (but then again Blair's influence on Labour and British politics in general has undoubtedly been malign)

That said, I don't think making such a public appeal is going going to do her any favours. She's be better off lobbying him in private. Blair's still quite keep on keeping up a positive image with the general public.
