Assange supporters shut down Swedish websites

Source: Irish Examiner

Monday, September 03, 2012 - 06:00 PM

Swedish government websites have been jammed by hackers for hours today, with some supporters of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange claiming responsibility on Twitter.

The websites of the Swedish government, Armed Forces and the Swedish Institute were among those experiencing problems.

Niklas Englund, head of digital media at the Swedish Armed Forces, said it was unclear who was behind the so-called denial-of-service attacks, in which websites are overwhelmed with bogus traffic.

But he noted that an unidentified group urging Sweden to take its “hands off Assange” claimed responsibility on Twitter ...

Published on Monday 3 September 2012 12:53

A political leader has called for an independent inquiry after a police website was hacked into by a supporter of Julian Assange.

The hacker published the phone numbers and log-in details of dozens of officers in Herts Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

The person added an ‘OpFreeAssange’ banner to the website along with a quote from the troubled WikiLeaks founder ...

1. Assange" Should be sent to Mental Hospital: Mayawati

Mayawati had also said that Wikileaks founder "Julian Assange" should be sent to biggest mental hospital in India in Agra. Wikileaks had given some information about Mayawati.

A senior police officer stated in front of the media that the state government is fraud. This police officer was thrown in mental hospital by his colleagues. I think this happened in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and the state leader is "Mayawati"

3. Does that have anything to do with Ecuador's interference in the judgment of UK courts

that would extradite Assange to Sweden to face sexual assault allegations?

6. Ecuador is sheltering a fugitive from the UK police. The man jumped bail, after losing in court

in both Sweden and the UK, over and over again, during a period of about a year and a half

As much as they'd like everyone to think otherwise, Ecuador isn't playing Roaul Wallenburg here. Assange had been living comfortably in a mansion while fighting the extradition, moving about rather freely, though subject to some bail conditions, and running a little show on a Russian state-owned TV network. There's no evidence he's in danger in Sweden either. So the standard international understandings, which might allow the embassy to shelter him if he was in immediate danger outside the embassy, or which might allow the embassy to try to protect him from immediate persecution in Sweden by insisting on non-refoulment, are inoperative

43. I think I won't be much concerned, if people who confuse Assange with the civil rights movement,

decide to call me names

Maybe you should read some of the stories I linked: it might help you clarify your thinking

I'm figuring that folks like struggles needs to radicalize things...

as he needs to demonize whistleblowers.

His flood of pages seems to be getting people to chance on his screeds.

4. Hacking websites doesn't do it for me...

If you're gonna hack, go whole hog...

The telecom system (make it endlessly play old, off-key, power ballads from the 70's), or shut out the bank systems.

THAT'S hacking.
