|
I just think he gets more notice for it these days.
I was probably in my 20's (1980s) when I realized that even as an actor, he isn't that great, he just plays himself over and over with very minor changes, usually not too bright a character, intellectually, socially, or personally. |

but like I said, to vote republican in this day, is to vote for the fall of America. If he is too stupid to understand that, then he deserves to lose my support.
You are right, he does just play himself over and over. I guess I overlooked it because of my nostalgia. Into my chuck norris trash pile he goes. |

10. Oh my I hate seeing "I love" regarding people you don't know.
|
Enjoyed, adored even, but loved??? And then people wonder why I hate that word all the way around, it means absolutely nothing 90% of the time it is used. /rant
I too adored his early spaghetti westerns, but his conservatism is well known for decades. Since his mayoral term in Carmel, I think it was. And to see and raise you, anyone aligning with Repubs since the 2000 primary wherein GWB won the nom, is damn near treasonous to my way of thinking, and becomes moreso every day, every nominee, every plank of the platform. |

Anyone voting republican is either a fucking idiot or a traitor. I would have expected many rich to be part of yesterdays republican party. But this ain't yesterdays republican party even though their ideas are backassward.

|
It's always been this bad, since Nixon and the "Southern Strategy," Reagan and the "Moral Majority," Gingrich and the first Tea Party-style insanity of 1994, which everyone forgets for some reason, Bush and the war on the world. They're getting more shrill and extremist because they know the long-term demographics (and the permanent disaster of an economy entirely for the rich) are going to do them in. Maybe you're thinking of Eisenhower?

"I saw a lot of him and you have to admit -- he looks like a president," Eastwood recalled with a tone that you'd have to describe as being slyly sarcastic. "I mean, if you were casting a movie where you needed someone to play president, you'd definitely pick him."
. . . "In Sun Valley earlier this month, Eastwood hypocritically changed his spin on Romney's appearances, saying that Romney "is too handsome to be governor, but he does look like he could be president." Now that Romney was the nominee, the sarcasm was gone; Eastwood has always been an opportunist." Sorry, Clint, romney is fucking ugly like a waxed robot psychopath. You've lost it, Eastwood. |

Do you realize how many of us old white guys who have carried guns and used them in combat and been decorated for valor you insult with your too inclusive comments?
As far as what we are capable of being, I find your remarks distressing; I doubt you recognized this when you wrote the comment, but as an adult you have to sometimes engage brain before engaging mouth. I work several times a week as do many many senior citizens for my community and for people generally in the hopes of building a better America for everyone. and I suspect that if you actually knew me and so many of my age who are physically strong and tough as well as community minded you might sing a different tune. In any case, let up on the generalities. There are many of us old white guys out there who have to persuade other old white guys that Obama is the guy to vote for and our jobs are made more difficult by remarks like yours. Do I sound pissed off, good. Go Obama!!! |

He only plays heroes. He never was one He only played combat veteran's he was never one. He only played a tough cop, who cared out the victims. He was never one of those either. Like the doctor on the medicine commercials says I am not a doctor, I only play one on television.
Unlike democratic celebrities who demonstrate their belief with actions, republicans hope star power alone will suffice. Actually do you know of anything for mankind that Clint has done? Seriously? All I know about his non-screen life is that he was Mayor of Carmel California, and he tossed out his long time girl friend a few years ago. Does not sound like a strong bio to give him much credibility. But heck, it is hard to believe he can lie any better than Ryan even if Clint is a professional actor. |

When you don't have any substance, then there is no option except to trot out some distractions for the real package of Romney. This is why an actor is required. Actors are used to create an image for the imagination.
But when the actor fades back behind the curtains, then there it is: Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan ready and willing to take more of the country's money and distribute among the wealthy who need it the least. |

50. I've seen him interviewed where he strongly suggested he was libertarian.
|
So he would be an odd choice, especially if he got up and started talking pro choice, assisted suicide, drug legalization, defense cuts, and no fighting wars overseas. But I doubt that will happen. So, my question to him would be what about Obama made you decide to be political for Mitt, which is something he has for the most part always avoided. He is a very private person.

51. I always admired the artistry of his directing
|
I'll be damned if I ever watch another movie of his now. Is he now going to be the RNC's Leni Reifenstahl?

52. Other than his celebrity status, what does he add?
|
He doesn't have any more idea about the lives if regular people than Mitt.
Will he pay less taxes under the Ryan plan? Does the GOP really want to emphasize how their policies benefit the wealthy? I think he's a very soft-spoken person in real life - maybe that's the perceived benefit - he'll seem like a familiar, nice, older guy. |

55. I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF
|
Last edited Thu Aug 30, 2012, 05:37 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Clint Eastwood turned on them and told them what idiots they were. Can you imagine a silent bunch of Republicans standing there in shock? I would be LMAO. Its not going to happen, but if somehow he were to get up to the mike and call them out on all their crap, that would be fantastic.
Its rather sad really..I liked him.. as a movie actor and director. By doing this, he has just lowered the bar on his career. |

58. Dirty Harry trumps the carnival barker, lol, ...
|
The last and supposed most influential night of the convention, and they give the spot to fading actor rather than the carnival barker. Such hard choices the RNC has had to make. I guess Trump has been turned every which way, and lost.

The upside of being that age is you can say whatever you want. The down side is nobody much cares what you have to say anymore.

63. No More Fan
|
Well Mr Eastwood you just lost a fan.
I am no GOP liker and think they could care less about the working class men and women of this country. They are sure the enemy of the Federal Workers, Women's Reproductive Rights and have zero experience in International Affairs. Like who was in charge of getting bin Laden. You surely do not "Make My Day". |

But the odds of my taking political advice from Eastwood are about the same as his taking movie-production advice from me.

70. "What did Clint Eastwood say about Chrysler bailout?"
|
snip..
"Detroit Before he emerged in a controversial Super Bowl ad as the gravelly voice of Chrysler's resurgence, Clint Eastwood was a critic of the government bailout that saved the U.S. automaker.. "We shouldn't be bailing out the banks and car companies," actor, director and Academy Award winner Eastwood told the Los Angeles Times in November 2011. "If a CEO can't figure out how to make his company profitable, then he shouldn't be the CEO." The two-minute Chrysler ad "Halftime in America" won attention for its focus on American resilience, but raised eyebrows for the way critics said it echoed one of the central themes of President Barack Obama's reelection bid." http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Latest-News-Wires/2012/0208/What-did-Clint-Eastwood-say-about-Chrysler-bailout Way to go out with a thud, Clint. |
