Mitt Romney: Ryan will fall in line on MedicareLast edited Wed Aug 15, 2012, 11:32 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
Source: CBS News
his solo first interview since tapping Paul Ryan as his running mate, Mitt Romney on Wednesday attempted to create daylight between his plan for Medicare and his running mate's controversial budget proposal, telling CBS News that Ryan had joined his campaign - not vice versa. * * * "Ryan's budget incorporates the $700 billion in savings achieved under Obamacare, which come from eliminating subsidies to insurance companies, cutting waste and fraud, and reforming delivery systems that will help keep seniors healthy," said Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith, in a press release following a "60 Minutes" interview with Romney and Ryan. Asked about the Ryan budget's proposed Medicare cuts, Romney on Wednesday suggested that the Wisconsin Republican would fall into line to support a plan that excluded such reductions. "The president's cuts of $716 billion to Medicare, those cuts are going to be restored if I become president and Paul Ryan becomes vice president," he said. "My commitment is, if I become president, I'm going to restore that $716 billion to the Medicare trust fund so that current seniors can know that trust fund is not being raided and we're going to make sure - and get Medicare on track to be solvent long-term on a permanent basis." Romney captures the Republican nomination by embracing the Medicare killing House budget plan that was pushed by Ryan. Romney picks Ryan as his Vice-President. Romney then tries to defend Ryan's Medicare plans by lying about the Affordable Healthcare Act, then when its pointed out that Ryan's plan makes the same cuts, but uses them for tax cuts to the rich, Romney has a Sistah Soulja moment! Against his own VP candidate! This Sistah Soulja moment would be a lot more convincing if Romney did not pledge fealty to this budget plan during the Republican primaries. Now, he has to flip-flop (again) and try to show that he is the Alpha against his own running mate.

|
Now they see me, now they don't
I've come and gone. And ooh I love to sweep around the wide step, Cut a little swathe and lead the people on. Now my good friends, it behoove me to be solemn and declare, I'm for goodness and for profit and for living clean and saying daily prayer, And now my good friends, you can sleep nights, I'll continue to stand tall. You can trust me, for I promise, I shall keep a watchful eye upon ya'll. |

6. Restoring that money just proves he's an idiot
|
The money cut was going to insurance companies and fraud that Obama eliminated.
Under the Affordable Care Act, Medicare was improved or had these things added (including for those over 55): - annual wellness checkups - closed donut hole for drugs - cancer, bone, cardiovascular, diabetes, etc screenings - nutritional therapy assistance for diseases like diabetes, kidney, etc Medicaid for those same 55+ seniors was also improved (ie long term care, and some of the above list) Prior existing benefits were not reduced or taken away by Obama. Some of the above savings paid for those things but they will be gone if the ACA is killed on Day 1. Romney is a lying idiot. |
