5th person accuses[Tea Party] activist Greg Peterson of sex assault

A day before a preliminary hearing on charges he sexually assaulted four women, GOP activist Gregory Nathan Peterson was accused Monday of forcible sexual abuse involving a fifth victim.

The new charge of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse, filed in Wasatch County’s 4th District Court, is similar to those filed earlier in Salt Lake County.

Peterson in April 2010 allegedly took the woman to his Heber cabin for lunch, and said he wanted to watch a movie. The woman said she didn’t have time and needed to pick up her daughter from school. According to court documents, Peterson began kissing her and after she told him to stop, exposed his genitals. When he attempted to make her touch him, she put her hand on the holster of her gun and "told him he needed to take home or she would start walking," according to court documents.

He then took her back to her car in Utah County.

Peterson, who had been charged in July with sexually assaulting four other women, is scheduled to appear Tuesday in 3rd District Court in Salt Lake City for a preliminary hearing expected to last two days.

Utah tea party activist Greg Peterson accused of multiple rapes

Life sentence possible » In two cases, Gregory N. Peterson is suspected of taking victims to a cabin in Heber.

A Utah Republican activist is accused of raping four women — two of whom say they were taken to the Heber cabin where the man hosted major political events.

Gregory Nathan Peterson, 37, of Orem, was charged Wednesday 3rd District Court in Salt Lake City with 23 felony counts, including rape and kidnapping, and two misdemeanors. A jail log indicates U.S. marshals arrested Peterson in his home in Heber and booked him into the Salt Lake County jail. He remained there Thursday in lieu of $750,000 bail.

Charging documents allege sexual assaults against four women Peterson met in Salt Lake County beginning March 26, 2011. In the first case, the documents allege, he met a woman at a church function and she agreed to go to a movie with him.

On Peterson’s Facebook page, he describes himself as the owner of Peterson Wealth Management and features a photo of him meeting GOP presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Another photo shows an invitation to a Romney fundraiser that he co-chaired on Nov. 17, 2007 in Park City, Utah.

His most recent Facebook post was at 3:49 p.m. on Wednesday with an image of a spider in a web. The photo mocked a recent speech by President Obama with the text “Nice Web. You Didn’t Build That.”

None of the alleged crimes appear to be directly connected to Peterson’s political activities or the candidates he hosted fundraisers for.

3. "she put her hand on the holster of her gun &told him he needed to take home" -I would have told him

"I'll blow your brains out if you don't get a cab over here NOW."

Spending 10 more sec. with that creep so he could drive her home, stoopid.

9. I have a sincere question here--how many women change their minds about

wanting to engage in sexual intercourse after getting a look at the "package?" Anyone? Bueller?

I mean, WTF? Who thinks that's the way to woo a lady? "I know you turned me down, but check THIS out!!! This'll convince ya!!!"

I'm betting that "no means no" before the "goods" are put on display, and "that no meant HELL NO" after the meat is unveiled.

Clearly, this guy has a modus operandi--push himself on women, wait for them to say no, "expose the package," and then force himself on them.

I guess there are circumstances where a gun is a good thing to have in one's pocket or purse. Being around that cretin is one of 'em. He's lucky the woman didn't go all Dolly Parton on him!

11. Depends. The brain is a powerful sexual organ and some "packages" are "enhanced" with

ideologies of various kinds (and there ARE some very buzzzzzzzy ideologies out there right now, not the most of which is conventional religion since there some pretty trippy other belief systems up to bat lately), or enhancements can include $uggestion$ of variou$ kind$ of relation$hip$ or $ocial connection$, or straight up exchange of goods and services, like drugs and housekeeping.

Sometimes that all works out, more or less, the way that the participants intended and expected. Sometimes there is tragic dishonest incongruence in the power valences of those involved and, hence, in outcomes.

13. Mmmmm hmmmm. I think that might be wishful thinking, going on there.

I'm not talking about some guy who, after being turned down with a "No means NO" from a sex worker, ups the ante.

I'm not talking about some guy who was turned down as a process of negotiation for "goods and services." "I'm not the cabana boy, I OWN this resort!!!"

I'm talking about a woman who is not in business, who is not looking for any kind of monetary or societal advantage as a consequence of a sexual encounter, saying, at the end of a date or a ride home, "I don't want to sleep with your ass," and then, the gent, as his next "smooth move," whips it out, expecting to change the outcome with that singular action.

I'm betting the number of times that works (without the GOP operative's 'technique' of additional threats or force) is less than one tenth of one percent, and serious drugs/alcohol are involved when the gambit does work.

I get the impression that the equipment might be a deal-BREAKER (e.g. look at that thing--it has pustules on it/it looks withered and diseased, etc.) but I don't think it's a deal MAKER, after the "Ugh--No Way" decision has been made.

14. There are lots of subtypes that fall in that "incongruent" category & that'd definitely be one of

them. A movie is just a movie, dinner is just dinner, not quid pro WHATEVER quo and the uglier the quo the less congruent.

Vulnerable others, those in lesser power positions, need to be aware that "we" REALLY have not evolved beyond coercion. It's getting worse, i.e. the more repulsive the more coercive and coercion itself is bragging rights in many quarters.

16. Coercion definitely is still a feature of our society, on a number of levels--we've not evolved past

it. Gotta wonder if we ever will...?
