Saudi Arabia plans new city for women workers only
Source: The Guardian
A women-only industrial city dedicated to female workers is to be constructed in Saudi Arabia to provide a working environment that is in line with the kingdom's strict customs. The city, to be built in the Eastern Province city of Hofuf, is set to be the first of several planned for the Gulf kingdom. The aim is to allow more women to work and achieve greater financial independence, but to maintain the gender segregation, according to reports. Proposals have also been submitted for four similar industrial cities exclusively for women entrepreneurs, employers and employees in Riyadh. Segregation of the sexes is applied in Saudi Arabia, where Wahabi sharia law and tribal customs combine to create an ultra-conservative society that still does not allow women to drive. Saudi women are said to make up about 15% of the workforce, with most in female-only work places. Although the number of mixed gender workplaces has increased these are still few. 9. They could always do a massive trolley service I suppose.
|
Technically its not a car so having a women operate it shouldn't offend their archaic beliefs or they could perhaps set it up to be operated remotely by computer.

2. Well, that's idiotic.

Isn't the male phobia of girls supposed to disappear before puberty? I guess some cultures nurture it as a positive virtue.

10. No, he said Allah said it was okay for him to boink the maid.
|
And if his wife didn't think it was okay, he would dump her and get a wife who understood that Allah said it was okay to boink the maid. I've always loved that little corner of the Koran.
Makes me think he had a bit in common with Joseph Smith. |

I wish we could stop importing oil from Saudi Arabia until all women there are free. That would really change things. |

8. And so it begins:
|
The experiment in which women slowly begin CONTROLLING THE WORLD.
But seriously, I can see like some dude eating up all the profits from this industrial city. Then all the ladies will be all like, "Nu, we ain't having none of that." They protest. Then the guy who built the city burns it to the ground. Before all the other women of the nation gets any ideas. Problem fixes itself. And the world is a little more liberal. |

12. Around the world
|
"human rights" has never included "women's rights". If it did, there would be a number of countries who would suffer our economic sanctions. There has never been a situation where sanctions have been applied for abuse of women. What I hope is that Saudi women would make such a success of it, they would be in a position to apply their own political power.

14. Built not because their women have no sexual self-control, but because their men don't.
|
Last edited Sun Aug 12, 2012, 10:21 PM USA/ET - Edit history (2) Same exact type of story was posted three or less days ago involving Orthodox Jews who intentionally got glasses which blurred their vision so they wouldn't be distracted by women. I think the Saudi males should try oppressing themselves instead of oppressing women any further.
Obviously, not all Saudi men have no self-control. But when you go this far, you have a cultural problem involving gender equality which is motherfucking deep. PB |
