‘Wild Old Women’ Close San Francisco Bank Of America Branch ?w=300
A group calling themselves ‘Wild Old Women’ protest outside the Bank of America Bernal Heights branch in San Francisco, January 5, 2012. (CBS) ‘Wild Old Women’ Close San Francisco Bank Of America Branch January 5, 2012 3:24 PM SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – It was a slow-moving Occupy Wall Street protest, but it was an effective one. A dozen senior citizens calling themselves “the wild old women” succeeded in closing a Bank of America branch in Bernal Heights Thursday. The women, aged 69 to 82, who live at the senior home up Mission street from the Bernal Heights Bank of America branch, decided to hold their own protest by doing what they called a “run on the bank.” Tita Caldwell, 80, who led the charge of women with walkers and wheelchairs, said that they’re demanding the bank lower fees, pay higher taxes, and stop foreclosing on, and evicting, homeowners. 5. We older women should fight for ourselves and for our children -- now.
|
Most of us are mothers. All our lives, we have defended and nurtured those we love. We nursed our babies, changed their diapers, wiped their noses, fed them, packed their lunches, put on their socks and their shoes and made sure they got to school.
Now we need to remind society that not just our children but all God's children need to be taken care of. Each of us needs shoes -- and a home -- and food -- and clothing -- and opportunities in life. The greedy banks and 1%ers, the people who live only to watch the bottom line on their personal balance sheet grow have forgotten how to behave toward others. They need to sit in the corner for a while and think about what they have done. Maybe they should go without dessert until they start minding their manners at the table. We grandmothers need to speak up louder. If you look back at the history of the Bush administration, you see over and over again in the commodities market, the stock market, everywhere, that among the first to warn, to try to blow the whistle and to stand still to stop the impending economic disaster were women. And over and over, these smart young women were looked at and heard but then silenced. I applaud the elderly women who closed the Bank of America branch. They showed courage and understanding. I hope that not just the Bank of America but all the financial sector pays attention. |

We've got that 'mom' thing down. You all know what it is. It's THE look. Yes. THAT look. The one that reduces grown men to feeling like they're 5 years old and just got caught misbehaving. THAT LOOK!
And Wild Old Women remind everybody of their mother or grandmother. Everybody. So THE LOOK is universally known in all countries and all ages by everyone who ever had a mother or grandmother. |

That the original West was settled by people who left the East because the easterners had become too much like the rich British. That the original west was a place where as long as you contributed the color of the skin was not as huge an issue as elsewhere. That the Reagan Westerner image is co-opted plain bullhorseshit! His type MAYBE might have been hired one time to clean out the shit in a barn or stable, but that's about it! Onward Wild West "LADIES" Lady's spellin |
