Neighbors invade (pastor's) home with guns, knives

Source: Gaston Gazette

A local pastor said he talked two home invaders into surrendering their weapons and waiting for police while he prayed in a hallway.

What made the incident even more alarming was that the invaders were Pastor Richard Robinsonís neighbors and former church members.

Donna Jean Walls, 49, and Phillip Dwayne Walls, 50, of 5116 Southbrook Drive, Kings Mountain, are accused of arming themselves with handguns and knives and barging into the home of their neighbors, Richard and Debra Robinson, around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The Robinsons are pastors at In Time Revival Worship Center in Bessemer City, and Richard Robinson said he talked the Walls into surrendering their weapons after his wife fled their home in fear.

3. Grace under pressure

I knew a Catholic priest once, and he told me this story:
He was subbing for the parish priest one night when a guy came into the church (or office, or whatever) with a bottle of bourbon in a paper bag in one hand and a .38 revolver in the other.

"I promised myself I was going to kill a priest tonight," the man said.
"Well, you have to do what you have to do... but could I have a drink first?" my friend replied.

They ended up killing the bottle, and the guy didn't kill my friend. And that, people, is too good a story not to be true.

4. Locally, here a little '"Church of What's Happenin' Now" wholly owned by the "minister" who was

living sort of high on the hog compared to the flock, had a woman come to Sunday School, and say she couldn't tithe or contribute to the offering plate because her husband was abusive and would not allow it. The minister told her to steal the money. Soon he was caught making a pass at his son's wife and was run out of town on a rail. Sounds like there could be some shenanigans going on in this story, too.

5. I knew a holy-roller who told

her would-be rapist that she was going to pray to god for his salvation. She started speaking in tongues and he left. She was safe.
