Romney aide loses cool, curses at press in Poland

Source: CNN.com

Warsaw, Poland (CNN) - The traveling press secretary for Mitt Romney lost his cool and cursed at reporters who attempted to ask questions of the Republican presidential candidate in a public plaza near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw Tuesday.

After Romney paid his respects to Poland's war dead and shook hands with a small gathering of the nation's military veterans, the GOP contender walked approximately 100 yards away from the memorial as he chatted with Warsaw's mayor.

NYT: “We haven’t had another chance to ask a question…”

Moments later, Gorka told Jonathan Martin, a reporter for Politico, to “shove it.” About a half-hour later, the aide called reporters to apologize.

21. playing devil's advocate.....it must be a very tough job to have -- having a client who refuses

to come clean and talk to the press. Having one who can't be trusted to speak off the cuff
without f'ing up.

And, based on his outrageous control freak personality...bet Romney blasts his staff
for not controlling the situation and keeping that image he wanted to portray (a solemn Romney who
actually gives a shit) from being tarnished.

Either do the job professionally or don't do it at all. He's not getting paid to make his lousy candidate look worse, or make the news all about him.

That said, I am delighted at his fuckup!

RMoney hasn't been talking to the press for this entire trip. He never talks to the Press unless it's fauxsnooze, and he's not even talking to Greta, who is likening the clusterfuck trip to a petting zoo. The press has been crabbing since Britain--why did he pick Poland to decide to get shirty?

CNN is covering it in HEAVY rotation. "Kiss my (bleeeeeeep)" is the theme of the morning.

The press being forced to carry his water, despite him treating them like shit. I wonder how long it's going to be before some of them crack, go against their corporate masters, and let him have it. I suspect it may be soon. I understand even FoxNoise is starting to get pissed off.

40. It's really an interesting subject to me -- how much influence/affect does a pool reporter have in

the big scheme of things. I suspect, like you said, what they report is still subject to "corporate master" approval.
I suppose at the very least, they will tend to ignore anything good the candidate does?

Remember how the press loved McCain, cuz he's such a "good ole boy" on the bus? Maybe they ignored his
bad side because of this

I just pulled up Greta's blog....she speaks of the event (questions being thrown out)...but not the "kiss my ass" talk

++Note press loudly shouted qs to Romney at end but were ignored.

this was their last chance to ask a question..so they waited til MR walked away from the
memorial site. And they said the press guy walked over to them "out of the blue" and
cussed them out.

I think probably doing all that traveling, lugging all their camera and sound equipment from

72. Go against their corporate masters?

Do you remember when President Obama tried to remove Fox News from the White House Press Corp? He viewed the network as not a legitimate news outlet. Jake Tapper, ABC's little jerk demanded that the president of the United States apologize to Fox News. As a matter of fact, he banded all of the Mainstream Media outlets together. They gave the president an ultimatum. Either he permit Fox News to remain in the White House Press Corps, or they would not cover his administration. Too bad Obama didn't take them up on it. After all, most of them are overpaid corporate hacks.

Romney has been given the press the finger since his campaign began. Where's that ass Jake Tapper now? I don't see CNN, NBC, ABC, or CBC giving Romney an ultimatum.

6. If the GOP had any sense

They would be in panic right now. Mitt has shown himself to go beyond the point of mere awkwardness, to being outright clumsy. He is the singer that fights to get the main part, and then croaks. The difference being, as horrible as this will sound, W at least had enough charm to make some people overlook his incompetence, Mitt has none.

Of course, they do not. Mitt winning is meant to enshrine a specific point, that being rich and white are actually the two virtue America cares about; that the billionaires can enshrine an idiot BECAUSE he is incompetent, because he is no Jon Huntsman or even Newt Gingrich. They are paying a billion dollars just to smack down the rest of us for even thinking of putting a man in office who, for all his blackness, for all his attempts to make peace, is to them, a (insert racial expletive.)

Of course, they are also planning to cripple Mitt; if he dares even think about that etch a sketch, he will be impeached, with the same people that voted for him calling him a dirty Mormon.

Let's NOT give them the chance eh? VOTE!

They weren't over Dubya.... who is just as inept.

But Dubya did as he was told. Like Reagan, he never even pretended to be in charge except to say things like "I'm the decider".... even if he wasn't. Willard acts like he's supposed to REALLY be in charge. And has no... whatever it is that passes for "charm" in GOP circles. Maybe Mittens should give everybody stupid prep-school nicknames.

They've visited 3 countries and managed to honk off officials at all 3 stops. It all boiled down to Romney and his staff's ignorance and arrogance.

But, back home, there will be a significant percentage of the voters who will love Romney for it. It will be for any one, or combination of 3 reasons:

1. Ole Mitt showed those furners that Amurka will dictate the dialog and say how things go if he's president.
2. Romney's not a Democrat.

I just don't understand what they're about. Palin I wrote off as just plain stupid and inexperienced. But Mitt has been pursuing this for YEARS, and he's not stupid.

So, ok, in the beginning, you make a couple of mistakes, commit a couple gaffes...you learn from that, correct course and fly right. But Mitt and his crew look as though they are TRYING to find the wrong move in every situation. The train wreck is so mesmerizing, so hypnotic, one wonders what else is going on somewhere else that is masked by this distraction.

I just don't get why the whole group of people in that campaign can fuck up so consistently. Every. Single. Day.

Velly, velly suspicious.

Even handlers know, though, if you are running for president, this strategy is impossible to keep up. And, I am sure, even they, think at some point, out of general common sense, that the candidate should be able to handle simple basic questions with ease if he is going to be the freakin prez of the country.

Sure, Mitt may be "smart" - I think with numbers and money...but doesn't mean he has savvy

51. Can't even take the pressure of a few pressers asking questions during a promotional/publicity tour

Looks like Romney and his crew have found and stepped in every cowpie possible on their Grand European Tour.

58. obviously his handlers are keeping Rmoney from the press, just like Palin after the Couric interview

Poor widdle Willard, can't answer questions w/out putting his foot in his mouth.

During a press conference, one of his aides loses it completely when he hears the verbal shitstorm that Romney is about to cause him (for the umpteenth time) and starts strangling Romney at the podium while screaming, "Shut the fuck up! Shut the fuck up!"

No one from the press corps will intervene and the story the next day will be that Romney died of 'friendly fire'.

Only Ralfalca will mourn.

69. Then again, in Polish, Jeb! is a swear word

it basically means "F--- off". A Polish-speaking Floridian DUer pointed this out when that state was festooned with signs reading "Jeb!"

So maybe he was announcing his VP pick?

70. Romney's people love to "demand" respect from the reporters.. not the first time.

They really have this notion that Romney is some sort of King. I wonder if he has that "you can't LOOK at me" thing with his staff. Don't address him directly, etc.

Here is not only Mitt but his Aide going after Glen Johnson of AP for having the nerve to question Romney on one of his lies in a press event. They truly are doing the "he is untouchable" routine with Romney.

And the gaffes just keep on coming!

75. Sounds like the Romney campaign tried to set the press up in a gotcha moment and fell ....

into it themselves.
