Captain Paul Watson Sends Sea Shepherd First Message for Supporters Since Departing Germany
Source: seashepherd.org
For the first time since the world began speculating why Captain Paul Watson made the decision to forfeit his bail and depart Germany after being held there under house arrest for 70 days, the Captain himself is speaking out. He relayed a message to Sea Shepherd headquarters over the weekend, asking that it be provided to his supporters. The complete message follows: To my friends and supporters, I am presently in a place on this planet where I feel comfortable, a safe place far away from the scheming nations who have turned a blind eye to the exploitation of our oceans. http://www.seashepherd.org/news-and-media/2012/07/30/captain-paul-watson-sends-sea-shepherd-first-message-for-supporters-since-departing-germany-1413 Read more: http://www.seashepherd.org/news-and-media/2012/07/30/captain-paul-watson-sends-sea-shepherd-first-message-for-supporters-since-departing-germany-1413

3. There are so few genuinely hopeful signs ....
|
.... but Paul Watson, Julian Assange, Bradley Manning are among the very few who are actually putting their comfort and freedom on the line to try and stop injustice, violence, war, deceit, corruption.
Not to diminish the actions of the Sea Shepard volunteers, good folks who do civil disobedience in the Occupy movement or the anti-war movement, etc. But it is somewhat encouraging in these difficult times to see a few leaders who do brave things like the rest of those committed to making this a more just, freer, more peaceful, more sustainable world. Good for Paul Watson --- and shame on the governments of German and Japan. Support Sea Shepard. |

5. Agree. When rich countries insist upon killing and eating whales, it proves that their societies
|
are sick, sick, sick. And when a country like Germany courts the favor of another by attempting to facilitate that murder, presumably for the financial gain they stand to make, it proves that they are just as sick---and probably did not learn a thing in the wake of WWII except how to cover their asses better.

12. ABSOLUTELY... Support Sea Shepard

We are personally moved in my home over the many campaigns.
The Bob Barker, The Bridget Bardot, The Steve Irwin... I'm grateful to those who have supported The Sea Shepard's continued effort. I am also hopeful that in addition to the dollars we might give that other big names can come forward with support. |

7. +1000. Well said.

Watson deserves our respect and gratitude but there is no shortage of haters on DU. Unfortunately that's the case more often about a lot of subjects lately.

6. Cue the theme from Cops and unleash the Dogs of Bounty Hunting.

Seriously, I am surprised it has taken this long for the International lawyers to get involved at this level. I am also surprised he threw Peter Bethune under the bus.

8. Stand tall, Capt. Watson.

When a government and a massive, evil industry seek to destroy you, you must be doing something right. Keep doing it, with our thanks.
