A judge on Wednesday denied a bail reduction for Republican activist Gregory Nathan Peterson, who is accused of sexually assaulting four women whom he had asked out on dates.

Peterson, 37, is being held at the Salt Lake County jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.

"To say that Mr. Peterson is eager to appear in court and clear his name is an understatement," Tangaro said.

Deputy Salt Lake County District Attorney Joseph Hill countered: "He’s shown a complete lack of ability to control his sexual urges."

Hill claimed the bail amount was reasonable and not arbitrary.

With the bail reduction denied, Peterson’s attorneys asked for a preliminary hearing within 10 days.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A judge is refusing to lower the $750,000 bail for a conservative political activist facing 25 rape and other charges.

Court records show 3rd District Judge Katie Bernards-Goodman denied the request Wednesday from 37-year-old Gregory Nathan Peterson.

Peterson is being held at Salt Lake County jail on charges accusing him of assaulting four women - two at his cabin outside of Heber, where he has held annual gatherings for Republican officeholders and candidates. Peterson also organized a debate between two GOP candidates for Utah attorney general.

An evidence hearing in the case was scheduled for Friday before Judge Judith Atherton.

3. So ...

It appears that the judge isn't buying peterson's "It didn't happen" defense and considers him a significant danger to the community or a likely flight risk.

9. Well, maybe I should amend to say Peterson's looney GOP friends will go after the Judge.

Then we'll be on the same page.

6. Ha, this tidbit:

"To say that Mr. Peterson is eager to appear in court and clear his name is an understatement," Tangaro said.

Looks like being too eager is what go him into this mess. Long may he rot in jail if all of this is proven true. GOP morality...
