Feinstein Regrets Speculating About Leaks.

Source: AP/NYT

The head of the Senate Intelligence Committee says she shouldn't have speculated that White House appeared to be responsible for some of the national security leaks because she doesn't know the source of those disclosures.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Monday at a public forum that the White House has to understand that the disclosure of classified information is coming from its ranks. She said she was confident that President Barack Obama had not leaked information.

Nevertheless, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney seized on Feinstein's remarks and accused Obama of leaking information about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

Feinstein issued a statement saying she was disappointed with Romney's comments. She reiterated that she did not believe that Obama leaked classified information.

5. Mine too and I agree.

I don't see any difference between her and a "moderate" Republican.

8. I do so wish that she would help someone else take her place.

How much longer do you think she wants to stay in the Senate?

I want a Democratic senator, but I think she should help a successor into that post. She has done a lot of things right, but it's just time for her to retire and enjoy life, seems to me.

16. I lived in San Francisco during the Dan White shootings...

...She really pulled the City together in a time of crisis. It was her finest moment as a politician.

It's been pretty much downhill from there...

18. She has done some good things and has earned a lot of respect, but . . . .

I would hate to see her resign and be replaced by a Republican.

7. For future reference, Ms. Diane ...

"I am disappointed by the statements made by Mr. Romney today regarding a question I was asked yesterday at the World Affairs Council," Feinstein said. "I was asked whether the White House might be responsible for recent national security leaks. I stated that I did not believe the president leaked classified information. I shouldn't have speculated beyond that because the fact of the matter is I don't know the source of the leaks."

As was advised to Gringrich, when he said, "How dare you quote me" ... One should not be disappointed when someone takes what you said and repeats it.

Please Think Before Engaging Mouth.

20. G.W.Bush leaked information to chosen reporters constantly.

He leaked the information about Iraqi WMD to Judith Miller at the N.Y.Times then quoted that story to the public to justify his war. All Presidents leak info to "test the waters" occasionally.

19. Considering the state she represents

she's way too far to the right. I can understand Manchin being a DINO from WV, but a DINO from CA? Seriously. What a terrible senator. And her family has profited handsomely off the war in Iraq and the tax cuts she voted for during the Bush administration. Fuck her.
